Wow, 17 years.....sorry to hear about your situation....can you collect unemployment maybe? I know, health care is outrageous....from what I have been reading on the forum posts, many of us are in the same boat and it is good to have the feeling that we are not alone, yet the other feelings of frustration and pain and being in limbo are surely taking a toll. Best wishes to you and your family.

RE: workmans comp, fmla and ptsd
You should report your employer to the I.R.S. audit dept. If they offered to hire you as an "independent contractor" they are in violation of the employee vs. independent contractor laws. You have already established an employee relationship. Your HR dept needs to review hiring practices.
Just my 2 cents worth! Check the laws of your State regarding RTW once released by doctor. It varies from State to State. At least consult with a workers compensation attorney before you do anything else. The best of luck to you. Let Go, and Let God...... |

RE: workmans comp, fmla and ptsd
Hi cookied...I'm doing the best I can. HAd a PTSD episode last weekend. Don't know what brought it on. Took a couple of days then lots of tears but it's passed. It's a really tough disorder and depending on what brings it will will determine whether you have nightmares, flashbacks, dissociative episodes or all of the above. I dissociate. Have from day one. I just started to have flashbacks and that brings on alot of tears. My husband is great and educated himself in the disorder so he would know how to help and he does. It may take awhile before your comfortable behind the wheel. Go at your own pace and don't let anyone force you. It's your trauma. Med changes are called for until you find the right fit. Glad you have an excellent Dr. That's more than half the battle. Be well and God keep you safe.

Hi Capricorn,it is so amazing connecting with people here. I know it isn't our "life story" when we write, but I can feel a lot of what you are going through. When you mentioned your husband...I was so touched because my husband is so good too......I am sorry to hear that you had an "episode", I never dreamed that I would have had ptsd from this accident, but it has taken a strong grasp and my doc says it is from the trauma and from childhood and never disclosing abuse (hope that's not too much info)...anyway.....whatever you are suffering from, you are in my prayers and you are not alone and you are greatly appreciated. all my best, cookie

RE: workmans comp, fmla and ptsd
Thanks cookie and right back to you! I think anyone with the disorder is blessed if they have someone close who understands it. The "episodes" are farther apart and less often so there is hope and it can be controlled. Thank God. I was dx for a couple of reasons non being work related BUT when I was injured, about 4 months later I had a full blown attack. I had a great counselor and with the help of my husband, my daughters and the wonderful people here I have been able to keep it under control. I am wishing the same for you.
