My mom works for a Texas hospital. She fell at work in April of 2007. Her supervisor took her incident report (my mom has a signed copy), she then advised my mom to go and get x-rays done in their ER. My mom did and received the bill for it. She called the supervisor and told her that it should be workmen's comp. The supervisor later left my mom a message on her machine telling her that the hospital would not pay the bill, and the bill was sent to a collection agency. She has talked to this head nurse with no luck. Her husband has talked to the hospital's attorney who was clueless as to why it was not paid, but still nothing was done, and the account is still at the collection agency. She is not too worried about this one bill, but she has had back pain since the fall and will not do anything about it, because she can't even get the first bill taken care of. I am worried that her pain will get bad enough that it will start effecting her daily activities. I don't know what advise to give her. Do you think she should keep trying to work it out with the hospital? Thanks for any advise you have.

;)Workmans comp is not a road you want to travel alone. You need a good lawyer,a great family and good friends to lean on.If you make it thru without losing everything you have worked for all your life, you have come out ahead of the game.....

RE: Advise in Texas
From what I have read. Your mother has already passed the time to file a claim with the state. Unless she has some documentation. I would advise you to have her or you yourself contact. http://www.oiec.state.tx.us/ Texas has an obudsman service. They can not and will not give legal advice. They can however point someone in the right direction and they will help with questions regaurding the forms.
Back injuries can be very serious. She does need to be carefull.I hope the above info helps. Please let us know what happens. Take Care. 8-05, Micro laminectomy/disectomy. 10-05 lumbar fusion L5-S1. 2-07 exploritory surgery. 12-07 medical implant, Spinal Cord Stimulator. now receiving SSDI. Jesus died for our sins. Soilders died for our freedom. |

RE: Advise in Texas
Thanks for all of your help. My mom spoke with her hospital's attorney again last week. She just received word that he spoke with the nursing supervisor who is in charge of workmen's comp, and the bill has been taken care of. It sounds good, but I guess we'll wait and see.
