update

Hi all....Was lucky enough to see the surgeon this morning. He said shoulder is healing wonderfully and has seen this happen alot where the patient has an aggressive PT yank and pull and the patient ends up with pulled muscles everywhere. That's me. Pecs, bicep, traps, tricep all inflamed and in spasms. No wonder I'm in so much pain. Told me to do as they do in PT at home. Heat, work it, ice it. Will go back to PT tomorrow with my regular PT and a note from the surgeon. He also told me IF this should ever happen again to call him. PT should have called him and not me in the first place. Also told me to put my foot down. Since the surgery went well and is healing beautifully to make it clear to them that I will not do anything to jeopardise my recovery and neither will they. So the pullys are off my list as I hate them and they hurt my neck. Here's hoping! Thanks for all the concern and help in the past week. Hope I can oblige all in the same way.

RE: update
CAP,
I was too taken off of PT from one of my surgeons as they were too aggressive to what my doctor wanted, he wanted me to try and maintain a level of muscle's in and around my shoulder and upper arm, until I have my surgery (shoulder replacement) after my back is tended to. They too aggravated my neck, elbow and wrist conditions and my surgeon want pleased and was going to use word of mouth to steer other doctors from their group as he didn't want other patients to in-cure the same difficulties I had.
Good luck my friend as you are always in my heart and prayers!!

Great News Cap!!! I'm very glad to see everything is going to be O.K.! I would suggest when you go back to PT, speak to the Supervisor, and tell them you only want scheduled when you can have the Therapists that you trust. That way you won't have to worry and you can relax and get better! Good Luck!Wink

Cap

So basically sounds like the surgeon wants you healing at your pace but working with the PT and advancing when you both feel that you are ready. Basically - try it if it hurts - stop - if you can do it - then even a few say 5 reps then go for it. So more self paced than what the one therapist wanted. Just make sure that you don't get the torture monster again and if you do - flat out refuse her until your regular therapist is free.

Remember stick to your guns this time.

I have 3 more visits left. Still the same here and still the same exercises ....... lol

Big Grin
Good morning all....Thanks for the well wishes. I was thrilled that she didn't do any real damage. She did pull my pec muscle to the point of some great welling. Surgeon says he sees it al the time with aggressive PT's. I called the facility yesterday to schedule 2 appts. a week for the next 3 weeks. Made it clear Not ot cahnge my PT. They put a note in my chart saying that and I left a message for the supervisor who is on vacation. I WILL make it a point of tellin ghim how rude and out of line I felt she was. I should be fine with my regular one.

Pooh...going to take it slow and refuse IF i can't do something. That's what I like about this guy. He's the first to say "Oh no, you can't do that, let's try something else" The pullys are out of th equestion. I'm not doing them as it hurts my neck. Taking some muscle relaxers now in hopes to ease some of the muscle strain. DID some research. SHould not have been using the muscles in that arm at all for at least 6-8 weeks. It still has to be assisted for another 2 weeks before we go onto anything else. My arm feels like it weighs 2 tons, and I think the pain makes me hesitant about doing to much PT on my own hence the surgeon wanting assisted. Well if your doing pullys on your own there is no assistance or anyone watching to see if you're doin git right. I think doing them aided in pulling my bicep. Going to ask about ultrasound today. Between that the stretching, heat, ice and stim I think in 2 weeks i'll be ready to go on.

Hi Cap.
So glad no permanent damage was done & you are healing as expected...even though you had a set back from agressive PT. So, tell me, what is happening to the bully PT gal? Anything?

RE: update

Don't know yet Lily....the supervisor is on vacation until next Thursday. I'm sure she did nothing with intent BUT should not have been talking to someone else while she was stecthing my arm. And she most definitely should not have called me wanting to debate the siutation. If she would have called and said "Geexe, I'm sorry I was so rough" that would have been fine but to tell me I was wrong and she didn't see it my way was out of line. It's my arm after all. I gotoday with my regular PT and am hoping she doesn't have anything to say or I might have to put her in her place in front of everyone. I'm in too much pain to have tohave confrontations at PT. Though she didn't doany permanent damage, thank God, she played a big role in pulling every upper bodymuscle I have. Still a 2 week set back.
