Question to whomever has had carpal tunnel surgeries
Let me start by saying it has been 5 years that I had surgery on my right wrist.I have been going to the ortho Dr. off and on for a few months now because of my arm locking up, same arm as surgery, right wrist also right shoulder,i had a MRI taken recently and was told it is just tendonitis in my arm, so was given cortisone injections in 2 different spots. they only last for a short while, anyways Do you guys think that it could be the carpel tunnel acting up again? Hope I asked that right. My arm locks up at 20 times a day. Thanks Halftrak

RE: Question to whomever has had carpal tunnel surgeries
I reciently had surgery on my left wrist and elbow Carpell tunnel in wrist and cubital release in elbow. injuries were agrevated by a fall on Ice.Have had no problems since but when the doctor was checking it out after surgery he used MRI and e x rays to inspect the nerves after surgery to make sure they were routed correctly. If that helps you..

Half can you explain locking up better. And yes, I had CT before also. You could have tendonitis, by something else is causing the locking up.

RE: Question to whomever has had carpal tunnel surgeries
Half. I had my surgery 10 yrs ago for carpal tunnel. That is what I have been complaining about on this forum for over a year now that my carpal tunnel came back "Mild Carpal ". I had two emg's. Then the doctor said, maybe tendonitis, arthritis, RSD, you name it , I have been diagnosed with it.

Now that I had my hearing and the labor board said their hand surgeon was more credible, he said I had recurring carpal tunnel. Did you have a EMG done recently? If not, you need to have one so they can see how the nerves are. You may have something else wrong, as Locking up sounds more like bone problems. You need to have also a xray as that is going to help the ortho doc. decide what is wrong. AND yes, carpal tunnel does come back, but very rare. Make sure you have the EMG done again. Although they are not 100%, at least it is something to look at and determine something.

carpal tunnel recurrence/ neuropathy / RSD.

RE: Question to whomever has had carpal tunnel surgeries
Thanks guys,This ortho Doctor just told me that its tendonitis, did have a MRI, but he did not take x-rays or have a emg done.It just doesn't feel right, He did prescribe lortabs and cyclobenzeprine, but I like Bummer hate taking drugs.Think I will call him and ask why he didn't take any x-rays anyway.I almost forgot he said it could be scar tissue causing it. Does that make any sense? So far I've had Right shoulder surgery, plus surgery for carpal tunnel on right wrist, not to mention 2 surgeries on left shoulder, so I guess it could be scar tissue.i just freak out everytime it happens.Halftrak
