RE: Knee Replacement/Knee Injuries
Harryo several of us on here are on SSDI because of our injuries it is a help talk to your SS office and remember to keep copies of all your med records...also many of us play on a game site called Pogo some games are free some cost a yearly fee under 40 dollars for all of them for a year I think. it has several different games and there is always someone on there for the nights you hurt so bad you cant sleep and just wanna know you arent alone in the world....check it out its Pogo.com
;)Workmans comp is not a road you want to travel alone. You need a good lawyer,a great family and good friends to lean on.If you make it thru without losing everything you have worked for all your life, you have come out ahead of the game.....

RE: Knee Replacement/Knee Injuries
Hi Jayne,
Thanks for the information. I have talked with a laywer about SS and he told me that as long as I am getting paid by Workers' Compensation that I wouldn't be able to get any money from SS. But he did tell me to file a SS claim. I am not understanding why if I file and will not be able to get money what would be the purpose of filing right now. I will have to get more information about disability from SS. I will have to look at the site for Pogo. Best Regards, Harry |

RE: Knee Replacement/Knee Injuries
I applied for SSD Jan 30th and received a phone call 6 weeks later from the intaker case worker whom processed my claim that I had been approved for SSD.
I scheduled my original meeting at the local Social Security office, I wanted the worker to have a visual of me and had all of my original medical records along with the names & address of doctors & hospital. My medical involves both knees, back, hearing loss, and abnormalities of the bone marrow. |

RE: Knee Replacement/Knee Injuries
Hi Jayne & Bummer,
A laywer explained to me that my doctor must determine that I am not able to work. I don't have any documentation from my doctor indicating I am not able to work. Therefore, SS will not approval my application. Are each of you saying I should file my SS application? If so, please explain. I would greatly appreciate that information. God Bless, |

RE: Knee Replacement/Knee Injuries
Social Security looks at the whole body, not just a part of the body as wc doctors do. Your attorney will advise you whether they think you would qualify.
I filed for social security on my own, two weeks later my attorney asked me if I thought about applying as he thought I would qualify. It is a plus if your attorney works social security cases. |

RE: Knee Replacement/Knee Injuries
Hi Bummer,
Yesterday at PT my meaurements for flex on my own was 83 with the help of my therapist it was -86 and on my own the extension -18 with help it is 0. At this time my therapist tell me to focus on strengthen the right knee muscules for surgery. What is the advantage of filing for SS now? I collecting money from WC. I was told by a lawyer that my SS wouldn't get approved while I was drawing money from WC. What is the right approach in my present situation to do with SS? I have a new doctor and in a few weeks I am going to be discussion my knees/back current problems. Can the lower back problem be added to the WC problem? I am looking for answers so I can do the right thing for everyone. God Bless, |

RE: Knee Replacement/Knee Injuries
while I waited till I settled to file for SSDI my husband didnt and collected both.....because his weekly(before injury)check was so Hi and his states cap so low he was able to collect from both......I wouldnt have been able to collect from both as my weekly check and state cap where in reason with each other.....but your waiting time begins when you file say you file today and it takes 6 months or longer to get SSDI (cuz most times you are turned down twice before you get it) you are that much closer to the end time ....if you wait till your WC case is over to start your wait starts then and you could go years without a check....some lawyers dont want you to start till after wards because if you get it at the beginning it can reduce your lawyers cut of the pie....Most lawyers worth their salt if they think you are in need will tell you to go ahead....My honey was oked for SSDI BEFORE his case settled....it was a welcome added money to our monthly budget....Talk to your SS office take all your paperwork they will guide you and let you know.....

RE: Knee Replacement/Knee Injuries
Yes you can add your back to your claim.
To date work comp has sent me to 12 doctors and the wc comp doctors are the ones that have linked the problems with my back to my knees, they have put this in writing and have sent the info to the judge. I have a hearing scheduled to add my back to my claim. |
