Update
I saw My PM Dr. Yesterday, and We spent about a Half-Hour discussing My Pain Increase, and trying to come Up with an Answer, and a way to Reduce My Pain. We came to the Agreement that Two things are Happening, My Spine Injury is getting Worse, and My Body has became Tolerant of the Fentanyl Patch. My Stomach is severely Scarred and Calloused from the Patches, I was Using the 100mcg. Per Hr., the Strongest they Make, and to Add More would be to Add Patches, and if My Body is becoming Immune, that would be Useless. To get an MRI at this Point would be Futile, because My Dr. will not Approve Surgery unless My Spinal Cord is so severely Impinged that it would be a Life-Death Issue. I am not at that Point yet, She said I would know when that Happens, My Pain will be Intolerable, I would Probably not be able to Walk, and I would be Losing the Control of My Bladder and Bowell. Great to know that I May have to Deal with that Some Day, Huh!?Rolleyes Any Way, I have had to switch to Methadone, along with My Morphine, Lyrica, Neurontin, Promethayzine, Simvistatin, Atenonol, Andro-Gel Testosterone Replacement, Klonopin, and Spariva for My COPD. Before My Accident at 42, all I took was Diovan for Slight Hypertension! Let's Hope that the Methadone Helps, I have a Follow-up Appt. in 2 Weeks, I'm taking 10mg. every 6 Hours and if it's Effective, She will Adjust the Dose Accordingly. Thanks for taking the Time to Read this, I am not telling My Children at this Point, I don't want them Worrying about Me, I want them Living and Enjoying their Lives! It's Truly Great to know I can Come here and Vent, without this Site and the Friends I've Made Here, I Honestly don't think I could Carry this Load on My Own!! Again Thanks for Being Here!!Smile

RE: Update
Still....I am praying for you daily. I am sorry to hear that your pain has increased to the point that you need to change medications. I do understand maybe more than you could ever know. Except for the pain you are with me on my path. I wish there was a way I could get you off that path, but as you know...you have been doing an excellent job of coping with all this and I can't even begin to know how. You do have a load and I want to be there for you anytime you need someone...just reach out and we will all be there...and I believe I can speak for the group on this one. Still ......my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family daily. Love Red

RE: Update
Limbo, may I ask, do you have pain where, both legs or one, and other symtoms I didn't ask?

When you say scarred at S1 and at S1 nerve, the S1 nerve I know branches off with L5, L4 & L3 nerves. Has any doctor / surgeon ever stated anything about nerve blocks, or nerve reconstruction or harvest?

Still In Limbo

As I posted on another thread; You are one of amazing strength, and when dealt with your recent news your thoughts are of your family.

As often said on this forum, IF God brings you to it, he will bring you through it.

RE: Update
Limbo,
You are an amazing man and have dealt with all that has happenned to you. I know that with chronic pain, it does take adjustments sometimes of the meds. to find the correct combination. It makes it hard when your body becomes intolerant of a certain med. I hope the change in your meds. will help with the pain. You are still on my prayer list and will remain there. Give little Lucy a petting for me, hopefully she has been laying with you, giving you comfort.
Love
Vickie

RE: Update
Thanks Everyone, Your Words of Encouragement are Very Important to Me!!Smile

Bad Boy, when My Disc blew at L5/S1, it Crushed My Nerve Root and the Nerve as it Travels through the Foranim. It is still Crushed, as the Scar Tissue grew so Rapidly it Encapsulated the Nerve before it could Heal. Where they had Removed the Half of Disc in My Spine also Filled with Scar Tissue. My Pain is Mainly down the Right Leg, but at Times it Travels down the Left, to the Knee. I also Have Retrolethesis, and have already had a Slide of 5mm towards the Spinal Cord. I have been to 9 Surgeons, both Ortho. and Neuro., and the Prognosis is the Same, no Surgery Unless a Life/Death Situation. Lets Hope and Pray for New Stem Cell Research, or the Discovery of a Scar Tissue Eating Bacteria!!Smile (The Reason for the Retrolethesis is when the Surgeon saw the Damage to My Nerve, He Performed a Laminectomy to try and Relieve the Pressure Off of the Crushed Nerve, and to Remove the Disc Material there) this Caused My Spine to become Unstable, hence the Retro. Thanks for the Questions and Concerns, I Really Appreciate it!Wink

RE: Update

Limbo>>> I admire you immensly. What a strong human being you are. As long as I've known you your pain has increased at different times. You never complain and have always showed the upper most of concern for your family you live with and your family here. I will pray and can only wish the best for you at this point. I pray the change in meds helps to make you more comfortable and that strides are made in finding a procedure to help you. God be with you, my prayers are.

RE: Update
I personally out of all the meds the pain clinic tried on me found good long relief with Methadone. If I had not got a rash and severe sweating I would still be on it today. Have you tried Methadone yet? I think I read somewhere that you did. If so, does it relieve the pain for you?

carpal tunnel recurrence/ neuropathy / RSD.
