IME appt.
Well, I had it...can't say as I'm much impressed with the doc...he was 45 minutes late to begin with. Didn't look thru my medical record...though he did talk for about 10 minutes and the exam itself lasted 5-6 minutes. He was more interested in my wrist flexion...had a couple doodads that he used to check flexion. I have a feeling he might have misunderstood a couple of things....he kept asing me if I had numbness in my fingertips when I repeatedly told him that I had burning and pain in both wrists and other areas. Isn't burning sensation the same as numbness????? I told him that it was on again off again...that these get worse with more hand activity and since I have restrictions I do my best to stick to them. The guy never asked what were my restrictions, never looked at the paperwork for them. Didn't ask about my working conditions...did ask what kind of tools I use....I took someone with me to the exam...

RE: IME appt.
They keep repeating a question, to only see if you say one thing one time, and something else another time. it's a well known trick used to see if a person is lieing. When not lieing, then the answer is mostly always the same.
![]() Records will be reviewed sometimes before they come in the room, or when they write their report. They don't use the records at the visit, because it takes them too much time to read and go over with the patient. See, there are Dollars being made here, why waist time on their part right???? Now, I hope you asked for a copy of the report to be sent to you? If not, send them a writen letter today, Via, certified mail with reciept, do the same to the adjustor now too. RE: IME appt.
Well, as Bad Boy stated, they use all kinds of tricks to catch you on a lie and if they can't, they make up one. I just had a IME again, about a month ago, my third, with same IME doc who did my first and I also took my daughter with me. He was so backed up because he scheduled so many appointments, we had to wait more than an hour. He spent with me about 15 minutes, 10 minutes talking , 3 minutes making notes and 2 minutes doing actual exam. When I read his report, I was shocked, because he stated, when he llifted my arms, I complained of severe pain, but when he "distracted" me with something else and he lifted my arms again to same level, I had no pain at all. So he was saying, I lied and there is nothing wrong with me.
Good luck, Kat |

RE: IME appt.
Katicabogar, yes that's correct. But, here is why they might, I say might lie.
IME= $850.00 Then the report is a lie, that brings on a Deposition. Careful you may have to pay for the Depo. Deposition= $4,000.00 Total IME with Depo = $4,850.00 And hope the truth comes out within the 4 long hours the doctor drags the Depo out for. Most States allow up to 4 hours on a Depo... ![]() The winner of the IME, the Doctor. How much did said Doctor make in a total of 1 day doing a big schedule of IME's? RE: IME appt.
I wonder if the Doc is proven a liar can he be sued for the same amount or maybe a law if proven a lie no funds to be paid to the doc at all....
;)Workmans comp is not a road you want to travel alone. You need a good lawyer,a great family and good friends to lean on.If you make it thru without losing everything you have worked for all your life, you have come out ahead of the game.....

RE: IME appt.
I should send a letter via certified mail requesting results of IME??? My attorney said that a copy of the report will be sent to her in about 2 weeks, maybe sooner....yea right? At this point, with me having an attorney isn't that what I'm supposed to be paying her for?

RE: IME appt.
When I had my IME the doctor was with me all but 10 mins. He only looked at my records as he was interviewing me about what this doctor did, what test I had, who this doctor was etc. Going down the list. He did one simple test, and that was the grip strength test. He then made his report and mailed it to the IC. I had to get my copy after calling the adjuster a million times and only to hear it was not ready yet etc. It was ready as I saw the date the doctor sent it to the ic and they just wanted time to review it.
Whatever the report says, the ic then can cut off your meds. because the doctor says you do not need it. Somehow the IME doctor is the one that rules over all others. My PIR rating from my doctor that does PIR's all day gave me a 32 % and he spent over a 1 1/2 with me using all kinds of tools. The IME doctor for ic gave me a 10 %. The IC wanted to send me a check for the 10% but because of the big difference in ratings the labor board forced the ic to call a hearing. The lawyer responded that it was unusual that they ever had to do that before. They have never had to in the past. I should hear something any day about my hearing results. I went on the 2nd and was told it takes about 30 days. Hopefully it is in my favor. I would have your doctor now write a note of how you need your medication and also the doctor that did your PIR help you if the doctor does not agree with your injuries and to the extent of it. I only had one month before my hearing to gather all the information to present to court in time. It was very difficult. My meds are now shut off till I hear the verdict. I would get a lawyer if you do not have one. I did not have one and if the ic appeals it, I will get one. Good luck to you. The IME doctor for the IC put down the wrong info even of what state he did my exam in. How credible is that? The doctor will sit down and read over your medical history and pick out any little thing that he finds to disagree with your injury. That is when they look at your medical records. When they are writing down your report. You could tell mine did that because of the way he wrote it in order. You could tell he was sort of reading it off as he went along. They are sneaky, lieing, doctors that are just money hungry and mine even was on the phone with his daughter planning his next vacation before he did my exam. carpal tunnel recurrence/ neuropathy / RSD. 1/29/07 injury date. Permanent. PIR settlement 8/4/08 10% |

RE: IME appt.
Sparkey, you're too far ahead for me...I'm still at the point of getting my claim allowed. When my employer denied my claim I got an attorney. I'm still in the "90 day investigative" period. The purpose of my IME was for the doctor to determine ifit was work-related. I have only been taking over-the-counter meds...I'm not at work therefore, I take them as needed for the pain which is 2-3 time daily. Most tiimes they don't work...but I've learned to deal with the pain now for several months and just go by my restrictions.

RE: IME appt.
Nauticalgurl1, it's not that others are ahead of you. What we do is try and prepair you and others for the IF's and Maybe's that may come later after a IME report. We all hope though, that each person can have a good outcome from any IME. If not, then the person can be prepaired.
