RE: Complications from scar tissue
RN vic

By a stimulator do you mean a CP machine? I was on one in the hospital although the doctor wouldn't authorize one for home use.

Hi Cap
Yes, the mobic is an anti-inflammatory meds and I was on it around the time I was having meniscus treatment. After being on this meds I started having stomach problems and could not longer take meds I once had without getting sick at my tummy.

The other meds you mentioned I tried and with them I have the tummy problems except Demeral I had an allergic reaction to it during surgery.

Oh geeze Bummer...I feel so bad. I am really med sensitive but you have bigger problems from the sounds of it. I can't take Mobic or any other anti-inflammatory either because of my tummy. The narcotic end doesn't work well since I have Fibro. and alot of them interfere with my BP meds. It's really hard to be in pain and not have anything to take to even get a little relief. Prayers and God bless you with whateve rit is you need today.

Bummer,
I don't know if it'll be something you could try, but for my NSAID I use Lodine and for pain it is Tramadol which is Ultram. I don't get sick from these. I also use the Zanaflex for the muscle spasms and the Cymbalta for the nerve pain. I hope your Dr. finds the right combination that'll work for you.

RE: Complications from scar tissue
hi,
Vic....I also take the tramadol as doc said it's easier on the tummy and not as addictive as vicodine and percs.

Bummer, have you tried the tramadol? If not, ask the doc about it.
I hope you progress in PT....but think maybe you are expecting too much too soon.
I think normal protocol for knee is manip under anesthetic.
Or orthroscopic release. Some people are just scar tissue growers...some are not.
Prayers for you! LillyWink

RE: Complications from scar tissue
I was past 2 months post-op, before I started seeing any progress. My surgeon said, some people will take longer than others that are much younger.

RE: Complications from scar tissue
Hi Bad Boy
Thursday PT said something about the condition of the muscles in my leg before surgery, they said I should of had PT before surgery, don't know what this is about?

Also was told Thursday it crutial that the scar tissue is broke-up soon as it will have an effect on my walking from here on out.

I only had 3 sessions of physical therapy left on the script, then I see the doctor on the 30th.

Lilly
I will google tramadol and read up on it, thank you.

RE: Complications from scar tissue
I hate to say it Bummer, but I don't like those PT people your being seen by. Leg muscle have to be built up after the surgery. I too had to do that. Ham String muscle is first, then the others fall into PT from there. They know that. @ months after Post-op I was told before manipulation should be done, but I heard of others getting it done sonner, those that got it done sonner, had to have it done again though.

RE: Complications from scar tissue
Vickie...Please be careful with the Cymbalta and Ultram. There is a drug interaction. I had read it and my rheumatologist confirmed it.

RE: Complications from scar tissue
Cap,
Thanks for the advise, but I have been taking both for quite some time without any adverse reactions (yet). The only thing that my PM doc was concerned about was when I had to start taking the Tomolol drops last month for Glaucoma, but since I have open angle and not closed angle Glaucoma they said it was ok. I'll keep my mind open to notice any problems, thanks again for the info.

Bummer,
I may be incorrect, but when I was going for PT I remember them using the Ultrasound on me, and they said it was to relax the muscle and also to help break up scar tissue along with the massage and Stim treatments. Have they been doing any ultrasound or Stim on you at PT?
Wish you the best.
Love
Vickie
