Smile Update on Hubby

Hi Everyone......Wanted to give an update to my wonderful family here who has supported me so much and prayed so hard for hubby. He has seen the surgeon, pulmonologist and oncologist in the last couple of days. All have said he looks fabulous and is recovering better and faster than any of them had hoped for. Next step is he will start Chemo and radiation for a period of 5 weeks as a precaution. He doesn't start for 3 weeks because he's not eating and they want him a little stronger. Radiation will most liely be 5 days a week for 5 weeks and Chemo once a week for 5 week. We're told that Chemo enhances radiation. The reason for this is that the surgeon removed the lymph nodes in the center of his chest where the cancer was at it's worse and they pathology showed some cancer cells. Although the lymph nodes were removed the oncologist feels this is back up in that they don't want the cancer to come back. Right now he is cancer free unless there is a stray cell or two no visible and the want to be cautious. Adding the Chemo and radiationa fter surgery can be the difference in being cancer free for life or only for a few years. Please ,please continue the prayers. Chemo had a real bad effect on his White and Red blood cells last time. No other side effects but problems with is blood. We're of course hoping he can go through the treatment this time with no set backs of pneumonia since the bad lung is out and he received a pneumonia shot. God bless each and everyone of you for keeping both of us in your prayers. The trips not over yet but we can see the rainbow. I started aquatic PT and have only gone twice and feel a positive difference in my lower body. Now just need to find another ORtho for my shoulder and hopefully that dream of the two of us being the best we can be by the first of the year will become a reality.

Love,
CAP

God is never late.

In the end it doesn't matter how many years were in your life but how much life was in your years.

Oh cap....that is wonderful news! On the road to recovery he is!!
Chemo & radiation will clean up any left over stray cells (if there are any)....but he's going to go through another rough time when he does this.
Glad the water is helping you too! keep on swimming lady!
Both of you are in my prayers, always. LillySmile

RE: Update on Hubby
Cap that is real, real good news. Hey, tell him we are praying for him.

Hey Cap, my father had 3 runs with cancer, and he is just doing great now too. They had said on run in #2 of the cancer that it was running through his blood. So they change the way they gave him Chemo was all. Their plan worked after the 3rd run of cancer, and test show no signs in his blood since. They gave him the Chmeo through a central Port, the chem was in an over night or 24 hour bag, that he would wear home, and get it off the next day. They said putting the chemo in slower, and over 24 hours should work better. Instead of just getting pumped in all at one time in one sitting. I'm no doctor, but I want to think his team of doctor were correct. Plus his team of doctor were always performing medical studies, and they always seemed to know what worked better for people. Each persons body works different, and that was how they made sure they treated them too. I very seldom seen sick people from the chemo or radition, very few with hair loss, (maybe a little thinning but no loss), and many always had good attitudes when they were in that place.
