Limits to rehab/vocation training?
I was just wondering if anybody knew of any limitations to the rehab/vocational training that WC will sometimes provide? Thanks!

Other than a Code of Ethic's is all I know from this stand point of your question, I see nothing more unless you want to better explain what your looking to find out.

It depends on the state.

I mean, if you have 2 years of college, can you get a bachelor's degree in a field that will work within your personal limitations or do you have to go to some kind of trade school instead because that's all that WC will provide? State of Kentucky.

RE: Limits to rehab/vocation training?
From Kentucky's website:

The first step on your road to rehabilitation is to contact the Office of Workers' Claims at 1-800-554-8601. Our experienced vocational rehabilitation staff will guide you through the process.

If you are an eligible candidate, you will be referred to an evaluation center nearest to your home. After reviewing the results of the evaluation, the specialist will then work with you to map out your rehabilitation goals and establish a plan to help you reach them.

Ability levels and interests may lead you to any range of opportunities from short-term training to earn a commercial driver's license to more involved training to earn a professional certificate.

RE: Limits to rehab/vocation training?
In a more general sense vocational work rehab is the start to help a person return to some sort of transfered work skills and get the person back to work, and in many cases as quickly as possible. If that fails, they attempt different avenues. As of last results they will pay for some schooling which is mostly some kind of training to help assit in a new field of work.

Okay, that helps. So the cheapest and the fastest they can find that will work. So if being the driver of a "honey pot" fits their idea of what works best, that's what you'll get. lol

Well, yes, they will try to kind of try to match you to you past pay wage scale as much as they can too, but if that doesn't work they start going lower.

RE: Limits to rehab/vocation training?
Their goal is to get you back to work....any work....to lessen their weekly payments to you. There is a monetary cap on what they'll pay for, in terms of schooling, and then your age will be a factor if it is even offered. I'm 54, and it was not offered to me even though I requested it. This is what BadBoy means by saying "if that doesn't work, they start going lower" One of the jobs they were pushing me to take was passing out pretzel samples in a mall!!!! Sooooo humiliating and a slap in my face!
Good Luck to you! LillySmile
