RE: At what point???
the comp benefits depend on your state laws. some states pay additional benefits if the injury leaves the worker with permanent impairment others pay if you lose wages.
workers comp covers worker injuries. if you get hurt at work you are entitled to file a claim and you can't sign off on that right. workers comp does not cover non-work injuries.

RE: At what point???
I would suggest getting an attorney ASAP! Telling you that you have to be back to work 3 days after surgery??? I am an RN, by the way, and I can tell you with all certainty that, depending on the type of shoulder surgery, you should not even be trying to go back to work, light duty or not, for AT LEAST 4 weeks after!!! Shoulder surgeries are extremely painful...telling you that you can't take your pain meds at work??? Are they smoking crack? Hire yourself an attorney and don't think twice. Good luck!

RE: At what point???
I agree with Injured. You will need time after that surgery. It is not a surgery where you can jump right back into work. It will maybe cause you more damage. They do not care about your recovery, pain. They just want you back ( Yesterday) so they do not have to pay full time out of work.

Of course you will need therapy. And I do not know about you, but my pain tolerance is very low. I could NEVER work in pain without meds. What kind of work are they planning you to do with one arm? Is this your dominant arm?

carpal tunnel recurrence/ neuropathy / RSD.
1/29/07 injury date. Permanent. PIR settlement 8/4/08 10%

RE: At what point???
Hi,
I can tell you by personal experience.....You are going to be in extreme pain! I have had two manual manips for frozen shoulder. Your surgeon has to be a sadist if he releases you to return to "light duty" 3 days after the manip!
I don't care if it is a desk job or not...it's ridiculous for your work to say you cannot take pain meds, but still require you to work. How the hell are you going to be able to even think straight in that much pain? Or think straight while on your pain killers?
Talk to your treating MD....you will need written restrictions....make a copy & keep it in your back pocket at work, take the other to give to your HR.
You are going to need to take your percocet, vicodine, or whatever he perscribes for you...if your work can't accept that, then you shouldn't be allowed to return by your treating doctor.
The others are correct, you need a lawyer pronto, AND, do not sign anything at work without talking to an attorney beforehand.
Let us know what happens, as this sounds like typical work place BS!
Good luck and take care. LillySmile

Injured worker, & tired of it all! I'm too old for games!!

A careless word may kindle strife, a cruel word may wreck a life, a timely word may level stress, and a loving word may heal and bless!
