A poem by a 16 year old
For the past two weeks I have been unpacking boxes that we brought back from Oregon. Today, while unpacking, I ran across my daughter's book of poems. This is a book I had never read and it has many poems that she had written through out that year. I found one that brought me to tears and created a warm feeling of gratitude that this lovely young lady is my daughter. She did a nice job but what is important is that she wrote this about her older sister who is 4 years older. Dawn was married while we lived in Okinawa to a marine and I believe that Brandi wrote this on her wedding day...This is the tribute that my youngest daughter wrote about her sister. I am confident that her sister Dawn has never read it. I feel honored to be their mother. They are very close and yet so different. Red
My sister My life I share with my sister, and we are the same in so many ways. I know that I shall miss her when so far from home she strays. Today she seeks a new home, perhaps very far from me, But wherever she may roam, My sister she shall be. She is my only life-long friend. My secrets she could never tell, my faith in her can never end, a smile from her and all is well. To her I'll never say good-bye and I'll always love her. I will hold and let her cry, because she is my sister. Family's are so special and so important to me, just as this online family is important to me. Red Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind. |

RE: A poem by a 16 year old
Is there any reason why her poems had not been sent in to be published?
My sister-in-law has had several published. She has talent, from what I can see also...

RE: A poem by a 16 year old
Hi all...thanks for reading and nice thoughts. Sweet tooth you were in good company as it made me cry also. I love my daughters so very much. They are both great young women, however, my oldest birthday is this Saturday and she will turn 33 years old..wow..does that make me seem old. I was 18 when she was born. She is the one living in Oregon who counsels kids with drug and alcohol issues.
My youngest daughter met jayne and tinkerbell when they were at my house. Brandi is very talented in anything she does. Thanks Badboy, I have an entire book of really good poems that she has written. She starting writing poems when she was about 10 years of age. When she was 10 years old, I picked up our entire family and moved them to the east coast because I joined the US Navy. It was hard on her so she expressed a lot of her frustrations in these poems and then they turned towards a heart full of love such as teh one she wrote above. She wrote a great one about Del and I and our entire family. It is called "To Love." She wrote another about me and Del and compared herself to wanting a life such as ours. Thanks for reading all... I am still reading them as I have time... I am going to talk to her about letting me publish a few of them...I can research it out and she what she has to do. Great idea BB, I didn't think of this before you said it. Love Red Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind. |

Red,
Your daughter's poem was very sweet. If she doesn't want to have them published, you could always bind them in a special book and give them to her, or make both her and her sister a book of her poems. Just a thought. I have 3 or 4 books that were bound like a regular book from when my daughter was in elementary school. The school did this for several years for the students that wrote the book and the teachers decided which ones were to be printed and bound. They were only a few pages, but I have always kept them, to me they are special because she wrote them. Enjoy reading the peoms. Love Vickie |

thanks all...vickie...you have a great idea for a christmas gift to my daughter. I could take this and get it bound. Where do I do it at? Does kinko's do this sort of thing. I would love to present it too her. I don't believe she even knows I have it.. we still have things from when the kids were younger. I have been going through that box off and on all day...great memories for me. Love Red
