Finally got myself a lawyer.

I finally broke down and talked to a lawyer (I've been out of work for almost 2 months). She is taking my case. She said that for one, they were trying to get me to sign onto an injured outside of work contract to pay me less. Then they wanted me to take an unpaid leave of absence. They took away my sick days. They said my vacation time was next. They want to only pay me 50% of my weekly wages. They weren't going to give me my MMI benefits. They also tried to get out of paying me for my first week. She said my boss shouldn't be calling me every day to ask if I was ready to come back yet (I've started avoiding his phone calls). The things she told me, I had no idea the system worked that way. I'm glad I went to a lawyer because they were really trying to pull the wool over my eyes. Oh, and they also said that just because they approved my tests and such, doesn't mean they have to pay for it. What Jerks! I'm glad I don't have to deal with them anymore. Oh, and hurt at work, thanks for your lawyer refferal, but the one I went with is about five minutes from my house. I do have to say though, that I am still quite nervous about this whole thing. Good for you Hurt hoosier!
It sounds like you've got a great lawyer that's 'on your side' ready & willing to fight for your rights!
It's sad though, that a person is forced to obtain legal help, because of employment & IC greed, & not wanting to help his fellow man when injured because of the almighty dollar.

You Definitely did the Right Thing!! You are Correct, this System is complicated enough and Very Hard to Navigate on Your Own. And from the Way Your Employer is Treating You, and the Tricks they tried to Play, it was a Very Wise Move to Retain Counsel! Best of Luck, and Rest Easy, it Sounds like You Picked a Good One!

I am sorry I haven't bee here very much but I am glad you spoke to a lawyer. This can be a hellatious system to go through and having a lawyer usually gets things in gear. If for some reason you are not happy with your attorney please do not wait to find another.
