Fire
Ok, so I have to get this off my chest. I grew up in my aunt's house up until about age 8. A lot of memories and that house was in the family for about 55+ years (I'm 24). It burned down yesterday. I was just there and I just saw it. I was too chicken to go yesterday. For some reason, that house brought back to reality that my grandma (she lived in the house when I grew up in it) is really gone. The house is really gone. They were going in and getting what was left and of course, my back prevented any good help I could give. My aunt doesn't have a lot of money and they city told her if she couldn't come up with demolition costs, the city would do it and she couldn't rebuild. Also, so convieniently, the insurance company just gave her this ultimatum of fixing some plumbing and wireing that the house needed or she doesn't have insurance. Now, she owned the house, no morgage. However, once the insurance company said that and took her insurance away, the house caught on fire. They don't even know how it started. Now, the house is gone for good. She can't afford the extra costs. I don't know if the rest of my family will get the money together or not. I have none to give her and not even an extra room for her to sleep in. I wish I had more so I could give her more. I don't know what to do now. Everyone is a wreck. My chest has been so tight. I just wish they didn't have to take that house away. Not that house. Luckaly, my aunt was at work and she is ok. I can't fathom it happening while she slept. The animals died. She lived by herself with those animals, but at some point in everyone's lives, my family all lived in that house. Letting go is so hard to do. Why is letting go so important? I wish I knew what God has in store for all of us.......

RE: Fire
When I lived in Fla. we had a house fire also. A faulty electrical wire behind the kitchen stove. Noone was at home at the time and luckily the dog was out on a runner. I was devistated even at a young age of 10. The damage was pretty much in the kitchen , but the whole house had water damage/smoke from the firemen putting out the fire. The house was only 2 yrs old. Luckily they were able to rebuild the kitchen and replace all the carpets. Also we did not lose any personal belongings. I do know that fire damage is a very tramatic thing if it happens to anyone. I am so sorry to hear about your home and glad that your aunt is okay. Sorry to hear about the animals. That in itself is hard to accept.

Memories are something you will always have. I hope they are able to rebuild for the family to still have the property it was on. Just cherish the moments that you did have in that house and all the fun and growing up you were able to do. Nothing can take away that from you. Best of luck and you and your family are in my prayers.
