tweety had injury apr6,2005 had c5-6 and c6-7 fused on apr6 2006 had cervical headaches from day 1 had 3 free weeks of headaches after surgery and havent had a day without one since......refused 2nd surgery have tried new things to get rid of them and they are working I wear a cervical pillow at nite....I have learned the hard way not to ride the lawn mower and the stress of driving is good for a mindblowing headache......I find heat and floating on water helps
;)Workmans comp is not a road you want to travel alone. You need a good lawyer,a great family and good friends to lean on.If you make it thru without losing everything you have worked for all your life, you have come out ahead of the game.....

tweety
I take topamax to cut down on my migraines which do help some - but like jayne says - some meds are not for all. It controls some of my migraines but it doesn't get rid of them totally. And I only have slighly bulges and then shoulder problems. There are medications that may help - but they may not put an end to the migraines/headaches. For me just picking something up sometimes can set them off or even the sun or food smells at this point. They have turned into real migraines in some sense yet start at the back of the neck and work foreward. |

RE: 2nd opinion opinionsplease
Tweety.....I also have multiple problems in my neck and have been lucky enough to avoid surgery. As Jayne said heat and water are the best. Also massage. I found that after getting a massage ( this was done by my PT) 2 xs a week for 2 months has relaxed the muscles in my neck, hence the inflammation going down and that has taken away my headaches most of the time. Also as Jayne said sleeping with the right pillow in the right position helps. I feel blessed that I am able to tolerate what pain I have because I really don't ever want to be facing cervical surgery, though the spine specialist has told me not to outrule it. CAP God is never late. In the end it doesn't matter how many years were in your life but how much life was in your years. |

tweety
not at this point - i am like jayne - one of those that form extra scare tissue around incission sites. Most just tell me to put off surgery until it is absolutely necessary. |

RE: 2nd opinion opinionsplease
I had surgery on April 20,2007. I feel almost 50 % better then before. The first two weeks after surgery was the worst. I am in PT now and that has been a little bit of a battle. I flare up very easy. I do feel better then before surgery is just is slow to recover. Good luck in whatever you decide.
