Update, Med Question
Hi all,   Haven't felt well so I haven't been around much lately.   Hope to get Snoop Dog back into his typing chair where he belongs soon.

Finally had appt. with PCP this a.m. for Depression/Anxiety, as WC won't treat at present time.

PCP obviously didn't want to get involved because of pending WC, but did prescribe new meds and will follow up in 2 weeks.  Basically, he told me to SNAP OUT OF IT!   Gawd, if only it was that easy!!!     He said I am in control of my life and should not let circumstances or other people put me in this position and to take charge!!!   I guess he was saying it's all my fault.

New meds:    change from 75 mg. Regular Effexor at Bedtime, to 150 mg. Effexor XL in the morning,  plus  .5 mg. Risperdal at Bedtime.    This for the depression.

He said my constant headache is from the neck muscle spasms from my cervical spine.   He said he was prescribing a muscle relaxant, but when I got home I didn't see it on the Rx, so I've left him a message.

I also take Celebrex for inflamation and Darvocet or Vicadin as needed for pain.

Lawyer:   I've talked to someone I reallly like and who was recommended to me.    I will talking to him again this afternoon.   It's up to him whether he will represent me or not, so I'm waiting to hear back.   I've faxed him lots of info for review.    I hope this works out.

Let me know if you have used or are familiar with the Effexor XL, and the Risperdal.

Thanks,
chrischris

Chris

I take Effexor XR - I take it once a day - at bedtime - like I said - it helps with some of the burning but doesn't do away with it. None of my meds really make me drowsy any more than normal with CFS ........ lol

RE: Update, Med Question
I took Effexor XR 150mg for several years and was very happy with the results. There were a few side effects that you read about that my husband was not happy with, but it was better than the depression/anxiety. Eventually...I switched to Cymbalta and I absolutely love it!! I have very little neck and shoulder pain anymore and my emotional state is more settled. I've tried almost every anti depressant on the market and by far....Cymbalta is the best. I hope your new meds will make the difference.

Chris,
Sorry you are feeling so poor.  Well your doctor told you to SNAP OUT OF IT and my previous PM doc told me I was MENTAL......what a fine bunch they are.  Doctors give me the runs at times......at least some of my previous doctors.  It is so easy for them but let them wear our shoes for a while.  I hope the new meds help you.  Please take care and if you a sounding board just PM me.

RE: Update, Med Question
Thanks for all the responses. Since I posted early this afternoon, I now have an IC approved psychiatric appt. made, and help from a unexpected and much welcomed source. As I'm experiencing, things change rather quickly in this maze of workers comp. I hope everyone has a good weekend. Tongue

RE: Update, Med Question

CC.......I am so glad this was approved for you. Besides meds, counseling is the best method. JMO. I have never taken Cymbalta but have never heard a bad thing about it. People seem to love it for more reasons than depression. It seems to settle alot of pain and gives the person more mobility. I have taken Effexor along with every other Ad on the market and hate them .So i am the wrong one to answer you as far as meds go. You sound stornger, and better than a couple of weeks ago. I hoep things continue to look upfor you. Good luck with the eval. Remember to write ALL symptoms down and bring it with you so you don't forget anything. Please keep us updated.

Prayers,
CAP
