curious!!
this man came by my house today and said he worked for my job. he asked me all kinds of questions about the timeline of my injury. he didn't say his title he just said that he had to come out and make sure i was the person getting the benefits. he said because sometimes people be cashing dead people checks and people in jail checks. he said they usually come out once a year. when i told him i haven't gotten a check since 1/22/08 he was shocked. i asked him was anyone from my job going to contact me regarding his visit he said no. does anyone know what that was all about???????

RE: curious!!
That is exactly what I think it was...wouldn't give you his title, said that there was no one that could contact you regarding who he was, hmmmm is right.

I have never heard anyone say that someone comes out anually to check to make sure they are getting their checks...and if they said that sometimes people are cashing checks of dead people, why would they be sending a check to a dead person? You know W/C, they know right away if you died, becasue they get your Drs. reports. I highly recommend you being careful about speaking to people that you don't know and I would not be suprised if they were there, just to verify that you live there, so that they can start a survailance on your where abouts.

Be careful!

RE: curious!!
he had me sign this paper saying that 1. i don't receive checks from my job. 2.i'm not working and looking for work. 3. i'm interested in settling my case. lets just say if he is a investigator for my job. whats the point. they not paying my medical bills are giving me any checks. and how can i find out who he really was. he didn't say i could contact anyone and ask who he was. he said no one was going to contact me about his visit.

RE: curious!!
sounds fishy to me. I think that if he comes back tell him if he wants to ask any thing he will have to show you prof of who he is and what company he works for, then call and verfy who he sayhe is before answering anything. If can't verfy then call police as he could be caseing your home.

RE: curious!!
well if he is a con he must be Danny Ocean.lol because he had my whole wc history in his folder. he said that the way my job works is they send somebody out once a year. but like i stated earlier even if he is some kind of private eye he not gonna catch me doing nothing outside my restrictions. to be honest before i had my restrictions i didn't lift anything over 35lbs. so he about to a real bored private eye. plus aint nothing in my house to steal.

RE: curious!!
It worries me that he had you sign something saying that you are not working and not looking for work. In Va, you are requrired to look for work, as long as you are at MMI. If you are not looking for work, they can drop you from w/c. Also, since you told him that you are interested in a settlement, I am thinking that they will really low ball you, knowing that you are not getting checks now and that you want the settlement. I hope I am wrong, but please don't talk to anyone else without seeing their badge and then calling to check on their credintials. You can always say that your lawyer has told you that everyone from the job has to go through them and not you...then give them your lawyers card and shut the door. Also, I would say not to sign anything. It can come back to bight you in the back side.

RE: curious!!
no it said that "i wasn't working and i was looking for work" that is the only thing that i signed. i been wrecking my brain trying to figure out the worst case scenario of the situation. if he was a identity stealer he gonna get a BIG surprise when he try to get something in my name.LMAO like i said earlier he had everything about my case in his folder. i would think that if he was private eye related his questions would have been a little bit more personal. my mailing address and my dmv address is not the same. he didn't ask is this my permanent address or if i drive or nothing out the ordinary. his surprise that i don't get checks seemed genuine to me and as i was telling him about my doctors and my upcoming court and the ime and my checks getting stopped he was writing down everything i said???????????????????
