Insurance company contacted me
In December a group of injured workers got together in Tulsa.
That weekend Tulsa saw a very bad ice storm. My husband and I were part of that group. Sunday morning my husband started the trip home we were in an accident on the interstate just a few miles from the hotel where we were staying. I injured my neck that day and have received some medical treatment. The insurance company for the person that hit our vehicle called this afternoon and wants to settle. My doctor tells me I am at MMI but will need future medical treatment. I am scheduled for an EMG in August and my doctor say the problems I am having with my hands and loss of strength may or may not be related to my neck. I have posted on another thread about the problems with my hands and arms but the insurance company is pressuring me to settle. Any thoughts... |

Let them pressure all they want, They are just trying to save money, You are just another claim number to them..... Once you know if the accident was responsable for causing further neck injury then you can think about settling. You come first.

Tell them No! They are just trying to save money. Make them talk to your attourney so they know you are not in it alone.

RE: Insurance company contacted me
Bummer...I agree with the others, if you have not consulted a lawyer I would do that now. You can always listen to them and hear what they have to say, but I just got our of the hospital having been there for 6 days and I recieved a BIG bill...it was about $89,000.00. You have no idea as of yet what your future medical cost are going to be if you are not at the point of being as well as possible. You do not really know what your losses are, so how can you be sure that what ever the settlement is is going to cover your losses. I sugest discussing with a lawyer. Ask him to obtain your medical records for you and then give you copies. Lawyers do not have to pay to have the medical records copied and sent to him whereas you do. Best wishes..Red

RE: Insurance company contacted me
Your neck could have alot to do with your hands being the way they are. If you read up on cervical neck problems, you will see that between C5-7 how it effects the hands with tingling and also effects the fingers locking up. I had my first two fingers locking up on my dominant hand and read that on one of the sites. I cannot remember which one or I would of enclosed it in this email.
Hope you feel better and definitly keep medical open as you may need surgery done because of your hands caused by your neck. You never know the future. carpal tunnel recurrence/ neuropathy / RSD. 1/29/07 injury date. Permanent. PIR settlement 8/4/08 10% |

Yep i agree BK....they are trying to get out of it the cheapest way they can!
Make sure your neck is not royally screwed up, causing your arm/hand problems. You could be in this (medical-wise) for the long haul...and as Red says...it's costly! If it costs that now...what will it be like 10 yrs down the road???!!!! Take care & prayers for you. Lilly
Injured worker, & tired of it all! I'm too old for games!! A careless word may kindle strife, a cruel word may wreck a life, a timely word may level stress, and a loving word may heal and bless! |

RE: Insurance company contacted me
Because I continue to have problems with my hands and arms I will put the insurance company off until after I have my EMG and I know what the results are.
I am having problems when I raise my right arm, pain and weakness, It dosen't want to move very well. My guess is this a neck issue. |
