Pain Mgmt
well, after 2 ruses by w/c i/c to keep us from Pain Management and 'further treatment', we found a Pain Mgmt Specialist who thinks DH is an Excellent candidate for Spinal Cord Stimulator. DH has passed the Psych review (Psych told him he was an 'Excellent Candidate'). Now Wednesday, attorney goes back to court to shove it down w/c i/c's throat, hopefully. So fingers crossed on Wednesday!

DH had posterior spinal decompresion, Bi-Lateral laminectomy L3-S1, Excision of L4-5 on L/side. 2/07

RE: Pain Mgmt
I wish you both the best of luck. I had the stimulator implanted in my spine, about 2 months ago and am glad that I did it. Once the Pain management Dr. referred it and I passed the psyc....w/c ok'ed it right away. My ncm told the i/c that it would be a lot cheaper to have the surgery and get me back to work, than to leave me as I was...which was permanently not able to work.

Please keep us posted.

I am unaware of the extent of your husbans injury. The SCS is not a fix all cure. It does help me with one issue of my pain. In my mind it is worth while. I hope it is the same for him.

glad it worked for you, that's encouraging....all we're looking for right now is relief from pain. DH has so many resrictions due to the permanent nerve damage I doubt he'll be able to return to work. Attorney called today and told us to be ready to drive to court on Wednesday if he calls. That's the first hearing he's told us we may have to be there for. So this should be an experience....like eveything else w/c related...

DH had posterior spinal decompresion, Bi-Lateral laminectomy L3-S1, Excision of L4-5 on L/side. 2/07

RE: Pain Mgmt
Good luck with the hearing...I have only had to go to 1 hearing myself. The others, my lawyer just went to or got the i/c to accept things just before the hearing. The hearing itself was not too bad, the only hard thing was that there was no time for me to say anything extra. If it wasn't a specific answer to their question, I could not add anything. But, I was made to feel comfortable and it was not as intimidating as I had thought it might be.

As for the scs, I too got relief on half of my symptoms, but that is better than dealing with all of the painSmile.

Good luck and keep us updted.

RE: Pain Mgmt
Well, we didn't have to go ourselves after all. Attorney called Thursday, Judge said since I/C Dr says drugs and Pain Mgmt Dr we went to says Spinal Cord Stimulator, she will pick another Pain Mgmt Dr and see what that Dr says. They will call us within the next 3 weeks with the arrangements.

DH had posterior spinal decompresion, Bi-Lateral laminectomy L3-S1, Excision of L4-5 on L/side. 2/07
