10 or 11 year old boys might amuse them a bit. Smile But if they have their own cell phones they will need very little entertainment.

Go get some movie. Also let them help you in the kitchen make cup cakes and then let them decorate them. If you have a garden they may want to help in it. Another thing they might enjoy is doing each others nails, but to save your peace of mine let them take it out side on the porch so if they make a mess it doesn't get on your furniture. If they are the kind of girls that like to play out side see if a friend has a couple bikes you use for the week-end. Good luck and just enjoy having them there.

May God send his angels to hold you in his arms

RE: Red & everyone I need your help!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Backache,

I love to have my grand children over, and often at this age they already know what they want to do. Mostly they depending on how long it has been since they saw you, they will just want to be with their grandma. It is so exciting to be able to spend time with your grandchildren. Alexia from the time she was about 6 years old, she always asked me “Grandma why we have our own room to do crafts?” I would always say, “We are building memories, what could be better than that?” Mine except one lives very close to me so they are my house every weekend.
You need ideas eh? Backache you are so talented just let you mind run wild about what is in your house, what is outside. For instance, I know you like Rocks, so ask the girls if they would like to enter a contest that says the one who grandpa chooses the funniest picture on a face as the one who gets to pop popcorn for a snack that night. This is just one idea. I believe that for the ages that you mentioned, they will love to do anything as long as they are with you. At least my grand kids are like that. The ideas that everyone gave you is right on the m ark in terms of that age ..Especially baking, decorating, etc.

1. Rock painting as described up above. You could also as each one to paint a funny face, a cute face, a smiling face, a unhappy face, a lovable face, etc. Then make sure that their grandpa or you know what type of faces they are too find from each girl. Clock the thinking process…and the one whose 2-5 faces are found cute first, get to make pop corn or something else easy.

2. Cut out Dolls. Give them some construction paper and scissors. Ask them to draw and cute out a doll and dress in a particular country’s style of dressing and then cut other colors of construction paper and dress the doll for country choice. My Alexia almost always does Japan, because she is fascinated with Japan, most likely because my Living room is decorated in Asian design. Then the one whose costume is recognized by a judge of your choosing gets another treat of some kind.

3. Paint small clay pots asking them to paint just whatever comes in to their head. Let it be free style.

4. If they like jewelry, have them do some beading. All schools enjoy making jewelry. This can get a little expensive however. Sometimes I get very small wire from an art store and then use old buttons.
5. Another idea for father’s day is to paint a small box, any colors they want to paint, and then glue am picture of themselves on top. Write happy father’s day around the edges or on top.

6. If you have any foam just as what you use for flower arrangements, shape one or two into half circles. Then you will need long spiral shaped pipe cleaners and roll the pipe cleaner until you have a small circle that is about the size of the tip of your fore finger depending on the size of the half circle form. Put these rounded pieces of pipe cleaner (use many colors or one) until the shell of a turtle is completed. Then, using a pipe cleaner, shape the pipe cleaner in to the size of the head of a turtle. Then paint eyes on the turtle. If you have an old Barbie had or something that can be made into a hat, ask them if they want to make a hat for their turtle.

7. I have a lot of ideas, but it always depends on what supplies you have.

Thanks Backache for asking and have loads of fun. I have some other ideas if these are not for you or them. Love Red

Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.

RE: Red & everyone I need your help!!!!!!!!!!!
When mine were that age, we played alot of yatzee, and I taught them cribbage (it helps with math too). When I have all the neighbor hood girls, we do hair, bath the dog, work in garden and flowerbeds, and lots of cooking.

The good news is,"You can get used to anything."
The bad news is,"You can get used to anything."

RE: Red & everyone I need your help!!!!!!!!!!!
My granddaughters are 4, 7 and 8 and we love gardening together. They love to plant and water all my plants. We also play board games, cards, yahtzee, zonk (instructions you can find on the internet for this game), we bathe the dogs, cook, clean (mine love to dust), they also love to clean the bathroom but that only happened once cause it was much easier to clean the bathroom before they got in there than after they were finished "cleaning". We color, draw, play games like mother may I or Simon Says, pin the tail on the donkey, they love to make piñatas. They love to make meatloaf (get to goosh the fingers in the ground beef) and tuna casserole. They like to paint their nails and fix their hair. We even have journals that we all write in (I have to help the 4 year old but she does fine). Just relax and have a blast. I'll bet they even have more ideas.

Let us know how it goes ok.

Deb

I agree with the rest. I think they will pretty much have their own idea of what they want to do when they get there. I am also one for board games. Kids/teens also love to try to beat one another at games. It is a real challange and can take up alot of time. Then of course is Movies.....

They will be fine there, and time will fly by. It is actually easier at that age than it is for me with my granddaughter 5 and grandson 2. They do not sit still...LOL

Enjoy your time with them : )
