so 277bla bla thats my new mark of the beast. but my name is daniel
have been reading for 6mo, now so i guess it's time to ask for you the readers expert advice. case in tn. injured back in oct07 two broken shoulders one internal one ex. 277volt hotel a/c blew my shoulders out. trip to er to pop internal break back into place THREE times
surgery three weeks later!!! (please forgive me for being drawn out but i venting 7months of, fustration.) i've seen from other post i'm not alown in most issues. thought i broke a world record for not pooping. but anyway, 6mo pt 3 day week got back a lot of movement i thought was gone forever, but still not 100% don't think i ever will be.
was given mmi cut off payments told go to work.
so that said i have a few questions
i was taken from work by ambulance to hospital boss setup workers comp before i got in the door. i said i did not want to use workers comp i wanted to use my own ins was told i could not turn down workers comp. i repeated through three weeks of broken dislocated popping in and out shoulders i want to go see my own dr. the anwser was no i got sent to a fracking clinic 20 miles from my home to varafy i was injured(as if the er dr who knocked me out and popped my shoulder back in to place three times could not tell them this)
so no1# can you say no i don't want workers comp was i lied to is this legal.
so i had the surgery thearpy they were great
no2# during the frist month or two mabey three i was on the edge of overdoseing i had to write down what i was taking i would wake up in pain go to take a pill look at my note and realize i took two an hour. so not to be a baby about it but i almost killed myself and for awhile i really wanted to. the only thing that kept me from doing it was my wife thank god, had she not been there i would have done it. so they cut my meds after some time but i (like most of you) still have pain.
it is by no means as bad as it was or has been and it dose get better from time to time but i still take all the otc pain meds daily i try not to some days but frack that most the time. see i ranted again sorry
question 2 i think i have devloped a drug and alc. problem thats a lie i know i have. so now i'm back to work do i just try to go back high and drunk. no i'm not that ahole but i was told to go back to work at 6am i havent been sober at 6am in over three months and if i could not turn down workers comp is it not there fault. i'm not just trying to get paid or looking for a reason not to go back to work but i cant pass a drug test and i know it's my fault couse i'm doing drugs, but had i not gotten fried at work i would'nt be.
had i not got hurt and just woke up today i would go see a dr.
thats some of my rant so i'll leave it at that thanks all

Hi, I'm not sure if I have the answers that you are looking for, but I'll try. From what I understand, IT IS illegal to not report a work injury to worker's comp. You can be considered committing fraud if you try to use your personal health insurance. Most health ins. plans will not pay for anything that was caused by your job, unless the injury was denied by the W/C ins. and you submit the denial letter. I would suggest calling a lawyer for a free consult and also talking to your Dr.s or mental health clinic about your drug and alcohol problem. These are just suggestions. I'm sure someone with more knowledge of your state will be here soon with more help for you.
Good luck.

Tell your primary doctor that you have developed an addiction to the pain medications and ask him for a referral to a pain management specialist. He will take over your care and do what is needed for the addiction, including, but not limited to sending you to a psycho-therapist or a drug rehab center.

If you don't have a lawyer, you will need one. You are not alone. Many injuries that require pain medications cause addition consequences. It may take time and effort on your part to overcome these issues and a good WC attorney will know how to include the medical costs into your claim.

I don't know what to tell you about the alcohol, but you are risking your life everytime you mix drugs and alcohol.

Sometimes the choices we make are not the right ones, but if you admit you have a problem, that is the first step in the right direction.

I wish you all the best.
Let Go, and Let God......

you are always welcome to pay for your own treatment at any time.
health insurers have the right to refuse to pay for treatment that is already insured thru workers comp.
........Each state has their own comp system; POST YOUR STATE to get accurate information.........

I too agree that you may need some therapy about the drugs/drinking issues. You did take the first step and admit there was a problem. By having a injury and put on very strong meds, this can cause you to become dependant , addictive. There is a difference and you would be the one to know which it is.

There is always help through your own insurance also for drug rehab. and so glad that you thought of your wife before you went and did something foolish. That means you do care for the people around you that you effect. Does your wife understand what you are going through as far as drinking/meds? I am sure she would be willing to help you get the help you need.

I wish you luck and welcome you to a great forum. Please check back with us and let us know how you have been.

27, if I read Your Thread Correctly, the Drug Problem You are having is Street Drugs Correct? And You are also Mixing them with Alcohol. If I'm Correct, You need to get Your Self into a Rehab. Program A.S.A.P., Please See Your Family Dr. for the Best Place to go. Now once You have that under Control, You need to Speak with an Attorney that is Versed in w/c, the first Consultation is Usually Free. You May have Avenues through Your w/c System, with the Help of an Attorney, to get these Issues Straightened out, and if it can be Proven without a doubt that Your lack of Treatment and Pain from Your Injury Forced You into the Situation You are in, (Which I must Add may be Very Hard to Do, but worth a Shot) You May be able to Add PTSD to Your Case, and be Treated for it. PTSD by the way is Post Dramatic Stress Disorder, and from Your Post, You sound like You May be experiencing this. Please let Us know How things are going, and if You are O.K.!Wink

1st Things first. You have to get help now, for the Drugs and Alcohol. this you admitted to us and yourself that you are now addicted, so since you can admit, the healing should become easier for you. The ones that don't admit it, have a had time seaking proper help.

2nd. You do need a test to be run, that will show, how much of your inner body has been COOKED. When ever there is an electric shock to the human body, a body part or parts shall cook. These needs testing, and documented and needs to be done now also.

3rd. If in such pain, and adiction set in, you must get off the booze and all otc, and street drugs now. be honest and tell your doctor's what has taken place. They will document, and try to help you also.

I won't answer the rest right now, for you need to take care you right now, and nothing else. Then take care your wonderful Wife. Get-R-Done now...

I Agree with Bad Boy 100%, for Your Self and Your Wonderful Family get the Help You Need with the Alcohol and Drugs first, and then We can Tackle the w/c Problems. You can't think Clearly in the State You are in right now, and You need to be Rehabilitated. I have fought the Demons of Alcohol My Self and know it's Hard, but if I can Stop, so can You!! My Best, and Please let Us know how You are doing, this Board and the People on it Worry when One of Ours is in Trouble, and it's good to Hear form them!Wink

Hi 27,
I am going to tell you "Congratulations"
"YOU are lucky to be among the living"! An aquaintance of ours was not as lucky, because of the exact same thing (electrocution by a/c) killed him at work.

OK...so this makes YOU special...you survived .
You have made it this far, by surviving a horrible accident and tremendous pain...now go get yourself drug/alcholol help, it can't be any harder than what you've already been through ..as obviously your reason or lessons on the earth are not yet fullfilled!
Prayers for your strength 27 ! Keep us posted, LillySmile
Injured worker, & tired of it all! I'm too old for games!!

A careless word may kindle strife, a cruel word may wreck a life, a timely word may level stress, and a loving word may heal and bless!
