Questions about medical test and work comp?
A letter I recieved from the surgeon's office listing the medical test needed previous to surgery with the results to be faxed to the surgeon's office.
My question is; my family doctor is not my wc doctor and my health insurance will not pay for the test if they are wc related, so what do I do? Here are the test I need to have done: CBC w/differential UA Basic Metabolic Panel EKG Sed rate |

RE: Questions about medical test and work comp?
Bummer, these are standard pre-op test and you can go to the hospital with the letter and get them done in the lab with exception of the EKG. This will need to be done in Cardiac setting. Some hospitals can do it out patient and others will need you to see MD. The rest are lab work.

RE: Questions about medical test and work comp?
I worked for a lab for 15 yrs. You can actually call the lab and ask them to tell you the price of each test if paying out of pocket. This will give you a idea if you can pay for it before surgery and get reimbursed for it later if needed.
You should not have to pay for this and could possibly give it to your attorny to have WC pay the bill for you after the test are done. Get a receipt. Best of luck. There is a book in the lab I worked at, and people would call all the time to see what each test cost if they did not have insurance. At least the blood test. Not to sure what the EKG cost. carpal tunnel recurrence/ neuropathy / RSD. 1/29/07 injury date. Permanent. PIR settlement 8/4/08 10% |

RE: Questions about medical test and work comp?
The lab that I worked for what not preform any test without a doctors prescription for the test he ordered. It was checked out for doctor signatures before any blood was drawn. If it was not signed and the doctor did not order it, it would not be done.
You will need paperwork to get the test done anyways. Ask for a copy for your records just so you can keep what test were ordered, doctor signature etc. in case you get billed by mistake due to WC not wanting to pay. We all know how that goes unfortunatly. carpal tunnel recurrence/ neuropathy / RSD. 1/29/07 injury date. Permanent. PIR settlement 8/4/08 10% |
