Weather and Pain
Hello everyone, I am wondering if anyone has suggestions about the RSD pain and the weather. I also have arthritis in that ankle. We are under a winter storm advisory here with severe freeze warnings, and it is sleeting as we speak. The burning is much more intense then normal, I have a heating pad on which seems to help some. I only have a shower here so cannot soak in tub. Also in weather like this the stabbing and twitching is worse.

Thanks for your help, and please think of me if you get out in the sun this weekend lol.

RE: Weather and Pain
I also have arthritis, this makes winter weather very painful.

Dr says to take arthritis meds. I do much better if I stay inside on bad weather days.

RE: Weather and Pain
Sithie, We don't get the extreme weather here but I feel for ya! Stay inside if you can and keep warm with that heating pad. I have the opposite problem right now so don't think it's all fun in the sun. We are running the air conditioner cause it's been in he 90's, and can't tolerate the air blowing on the RSD body parts. Also can't drive without gloves cause even a warm steering wheel burns the nerves. We can't win, can we? LOL!

Let Go, and Let God......

RE: Weather and Pain
I have friends from my former hometown of Boston. Massachusetts and they were here recently to visit us.
His wife has had arthritis for years, when they camt to visit us in Vegas...it went away completely! Yes the humidity is like 6 to 15 percent here. In Mass is it like 65 to 85 percent. Big difference!
Needless to say, the sure are thinking of moving out this way.
The whole family has roots in Massachusetts, but ones health is more important than anything!

Sitihie, How about a heating blanket since you can't soak in the tub? Hope you feel better soon!

RE: Weather and Pain
sithie -

I agree with one of those heating blankets

I used one of those with my shoulders and my back - since it's hard to have heating pad on all places at once - and I will tell you it felt wonderful. Just set it on low.

Think I got mine at wal-mart for like $25 for single size one - but you have a sam's club there - you may be able to pick it up there as well - a larger size maybe for about the same size - who knows. Then just wrap up in it. If you can - you might want to stock up with a couple - if your like me - I wore mine out rather quickly - in a couple of years - just because it did get a good work out ..... lol

RE: Weather and Pain
I never till this year, after the winter, had ever had a problem with weather. But I must say it has took it's toll on me also. I must also say I have yet to find anything to help it's affects neither. No Medication helps neither. I do know and remember my treating Doctor had advised the IC, that I need a water motionless bed, that heats and cools. He told me, it would be the best thing for me, and help me when waking in the morning. For starting a day out in pain, isn't helping. I'm starting to think he knew what he was talking about. But as always, the IC denied paying for the bed. Even now, when it's high Humidity, it's ouch, ouch.

Badboy

Maybe that is why my TOS is acting up so bad this year over any other year.

Do you have rib dysfunction with yours as well? This is something that I am just learning about in PT since they are doing it specifically for the TOS and they are doing massage therapy as well trying to release some of the knots in the muscles.
