Help in Ohio
I work for a Government agency in Ohio. While at work I was held up
at gunpoint and robbed. It was the worst thing I have ever experienced in my 45 yr life.I have have worked there 13 years. I was sent home from work that day(mon) and ironically I had the next 2 days off already scheduled for vacation. I was called back to work to look at video cameras on the 2nd day (Wed) of vacation. I went back to work on Thursday and had a terrible day. I called off on Friday. On Friday I went to a
psychologist (Company provides this) to talk about the incident. The dr. says this is a 100% definitely a WC case. I have been back to work because they temporally transferred me to another work site. The only time I have missed from work was visits to the shrink. I asked at work if there is any paperwork I need to fill out for WC. and they said they had no idea. The dr. told me she cant do anything, until the company starts the ball rolling. Any ideas? any help? This is the readers digest version. What is the next step?
Thanks

RE: Help in Ohio
Welcome Twister to this forum. I wanted to let you know what I know of a nurse that worked at a hospital I worked at. She was sitting in a pts. room watching the patient by the window in the city hospital I worked at. It is a very dangerous City to even walk in and she was sitting there one night when she was shot at through the window. Luckily it missed her and did no damage to anyone but the window.

She ended up having to go to a therapist because it brought her nightmares and did damage to her mentally. I was told that to this day she has lost her career and is still seeking treatment for that incident. So YES this is a WC injury, and may take alot of therapy to get over it, or may never get over it. I am so sorry you had to go through that, and thankful that you are still here to tell us about it. Good luck.

carpal tunnel recurrence/ neuropathy / RSD.
1/29/07 injury date. Permanent. PIR settlement 8/4/08 10%

RE: Help in Ohio
I would also send a written complaint letter to the head of your agency detailing the lack of cooperation in getting the claim filed and any benefits started.
without corrective action from higher up the next incident will also be mishandled.

RE: Help in Ohio
I would like to say thanks for the help. I tried to go and file a claim but was stopped on the 1st page. Can't find any info about my employer to get the policy numbers that are needed. I find that really odd when it is a government agency I work for. I will find out more info today since it is Monday. I will keep you posted when I get my claim filed.
Thanks Again

RE: Help in Ohio
goverments usually don't have policies; they are large enough to be self-insured or allowed to be uninsured.
