Out of country
I have to go to Europe next week due to family emergency and I will stay until end of May. Now I just read online, w/c is requesting two IME's for me.

My question is...just in case Ime appointments are during this time while I am away, can my atty re-schedule them for me?

I am a nervous wreck , this is not a pleasure trip, but I have to go.
Hope someone can answer my question. I sent e-mail to atty who said will try to cover for me, but I need to know if w/c can stop my check.

Thanks.

Kat

RE: Out of country
If you are on temporary disability you'll have problems making yourself unavailable for necessary medical exams and also requiring the carrier to continue the payments.
It also may depend on whether you will be getting necessary treatment. each carrier is different as to what's reasonable.

RE: Out of country
Thank you, 1171. I just found out, IME's scheduled for May 31st, so I will be back by that time and I don't have to worry about missing it.

I have to worry about the IME hand specialist as I know I have ZERO chance with him. He was the one who advised w/c a few years ago to deny treatment for my left hand because of overuse, not being able to use the right one. As he stated in his report, "I never heard of pain jumping from one hand to the other"...and I never even seen him. W/c decided to go ahead with my own surgeon's recommendation and allow the left hand on the claim.

My question is if you don't mind...can I request a different doctor for IME?
Thank you.

unfortunately no. the attending doctor is the workers doctor and is not considered Independent. the employer/carrier is also allowed a doctor of their choice (IME.)
you can find out more about IMEs
