Who felt the Illinois earthquake???
Not sure if it was last night or this morning but I just wanted to make sure everyone is okay. I guess it could be felt quite a distance away and was either a 5.2 or a 5.4.

RE: Who felt the Illinois earthquake???
My friend, the injured nurse is from Illinois. Her mother still lives there and she called her to say she was okay.
Seems she was in the shower at 5:30 am when the quake hit, she grabed her robe and ran outside. |

RE: Who felt the Illinois earthquake???
I actually slept through my first California shaker even though it moved my bed 6 inched from the wall. The summer of '85, there had been a lot of large earthquakes in Cali, and I remember one where I counted over 100 aftershocks. No one would believe me, as they were all very mild. But sure as heck, on the news that night they talked about all the after shocks and there were only like 10 that I missed feeling.
I remember when the ex and I moved to Michigan from California via Arizona in 1986. I thought that I was safe and wouldn't have to experience another earth shaker again. Uh huh... sure. You better guess again. I remember the day that it hit.. I was sitting in a rocker/recliner and instead of rocking back and forth, it was going side to side. I looked at my then hubby and said "No". He looked back at me and said "yes". I told him that we were going to move where there were no earthquakes... and he just laffed at me. And we ended up (or at least I did...he still lives in MI) staying in Michigan for 11 years. Angel ^j^ I've always been crazy, but it keeps me from going insane. ************ Happiness comes through doors you didn't even know you left open |

It was around 4:30 or so this morning, dogs going nuts, birds outside going crazy, and sounded like a truck hit the house, some vibration and shake, no damge here in Chicago though. My understanding of this Quake is, that it's called a low lieing one, meaning not real deep in the ground, but because these areas are very sandy areas, damage should be low.

RE: Who felt the Illinois earthquake???
All is ok here, I did not feel a thing, slept right through it. It was a 5.2 @ 4.37 our time. epi center was southern Il Mt Carmel and said was felt as far as 400 miles. And I missed it.......... Some very minor damage, pictures off walls and things off shelves. Talked to CRABBY she didn't mention it.

RE: Who felt the Illinois earthquake???
Glad you guys are okay
Am waiting for a big one to hit here since I was unable to afford my coverage this last December. Now I can't get it back for two years...that sucks. When I had it I didn't need it but now that I don't I'm afraid I will
