RE: not well
Cap, Sweetie as I have sat here reading your posts, It reminded me of myself and what I went through just before I was diagnosed with Graves Disease, I was ok and then in a short month all hell broke loose, I lost weight 39 lbs was nervous and up tight could not function, tired all the time, my body ached all over, No appetite, all I wanted to do was sleep. I had several thyroid tests and all was normal, then out of the blue it hit. I had nodules also. So glad you are seeing your PCP, You are on the right track and it would not surprise me that this is all related to your thyroid. Have you had a ultrasound of your thyroid? If not I would ask for one, also Make sure you have blood work done It does not have to be a fasting test. Sometimes a TSH will not prove it is a thyroid problem, other tests are needed, ask your DR, and good luck and keep us up to date.

RE: not well

Thanks CD, it feels like it.

Tuffy ... If I have a thyroid disorder it would be Hypo. I am so very disgusted with this . It's been over a year now. Have had 2 Ultrasounds, one nuclear scan and one FNA biopsy. No cancer. Last Ultrasound was in Oct. More nodules that they wanted me to have another biopsy on. I had an appt. on March 6th and the Dr. said he wouldn't do it because the nodule was too close to a blood vessel. My blood work is always normal BUT all of a sudden my mood is crazy, I have no energy even after sleeping 10 hours,I ache everywhere,my hair is falling out and my skin is cracked and dry for the first time in my life. I have a sore throat, hoarse voice and am gaining weight hand over fist. I eat well since I am a diet controlled diabetic and have even started to walk the treadmill and yet still am gaining and not losing. I have lost my sense of taste. I notieced one night that I had 3 different foods on my plate and they all tasted the saem. I have had trouble swallowing for the past year or so and have an enlarged thyroid. Will be on my 3rd endo this May and still no answers. If my thyroid is causing this something has to be done. I am impossible to live with.I have all the signs of a thyroid disorder and all signs of major depression. If it is depression and not a thyroid problem then it has to be treated because it';s out of control. Either way I hope to have some answers on Friday. I love my PCP so I'm sure he'll help in the best way he sees fit. I guess it could also be Meno. OMG , I hope my Dr. has his thinking cap on. LOL

RE: not well
Cap,
I'm glad that you are going to see your Dr. about this. I would also suggest taking a complete list of your meds and any herbal supplements that you take. I noticed on some of my meds. that it has warnings that if you develop severe depression or suicidal thoughts, mood changes, etc.. to contact your Dr. about possible side effects. I understand that many meds. can have this occur, even after taking it for a long time with no problems. I'm hoping that for you that it is something as a chemical imbalance, which happenned to me years ago, I used meds. for about a year and then didn't need them. Please know that you are being prayed for. We are here for you anytime.
Love
Vickie

Cap!

You have good reason to be in the valley....you have been through hell and back and hell again. You definitely need your PCP's assistance. A good depression and anxiety med is needed IMO. Never think of yourself as whining....once i did that and i was having a heart attack! It's your bodies way of telling you that something is wrong! Seek help immediately....MD on Friday is good. Let us know what the doc says/does if you can.
As always...my prayers continue for you & family!

RE: not well

Hi RN and all my buddies.......Saw the PCP today and he said I am a mystery. Is having a prescription for Cymbalta precertified. He feels this will help depression, my fibromyalgia and any menopause symptoms that are still hanging around. He did blood to check my thyroid again. I have an appt. with the new Endo on May 30th. SOmetimes a person's blood work is OK and yet the gland itself is messed up as in my case and needs to be treated. Hopefully this new Endo will see fit to treat me and put an end to all these symptoms. In the meantime the Cymbalta should lighten my mood whether it;s related to my life in general, menopause, my fibro or my thyroid. Thanks for the support and confidence in my own strength which i felt I was losing. I am trying so hard. Hopefully the Cymbalta will help.

Love,
