RE: no sleep..two days
Hi Robbie,
I have taken ultram for a couple of years and have not had any problems with it affecting my sleeping abilities. You may want ck the web for side effects of the drug to see if it does cause sleep problems. Simply type in 'side effects of Ultram'.

have you mentioned your inability to get rest to your treating doctor? if not, you need to call him and ask for help.

Take care, and hopefully you get some sleep, LillySmile

I agree with Lilly. I have also taken it many times and never had a sleep problem. I have had sleep problems due to anxiety. Do you want to share more with us? MAybe we can help if you're really upset or stressed out as most of us are, that could be the problem.

Robert Try this it might just help ... who knows ... When trying to go to sleep keep a notebook and pen by the table ... As you start to thing about stuff write it down ... anxiety makes it hard to clear the mind so that sleep can happen .. after you have wrote it down it might just help so that you wont forget or ease your mind ...
Works for me to just get stuff out even if only on paper ...

RE: no sleep..two days
Robbie - I sometimes had reverse reactions to medications. When I could take meds Vicodin wired me and I would get all kinds of things done. COuldn't sleep, lots of energy, and always made my ouchies worse. After 3 days on anti depressants I would turn into a lunatic, LOL (not kidding!). Just thought I would throw this out there, people do react differently to different things. Hope you get some rest soon. Smile

RE: no sleep..two days
One website i really like is " drugs.com". You can look up anything and even type in all the meds you are taking and it can see if you can take them all without complications. It even shows you the look, size, shape of the pill if you find one and can identify it. It is a very helpful website.

I have had restless leg syndrome for many years. I was prescribed ativan 1 mg. i take each night. It relaxes you and i feel it helps me wind down and go to sleep. If you ask your doctor about it, maybe he could prescribe it as long as it goes okay with the rest of the meds you are on. Also a nice warm bath and warm glass of milk would be great before bed. Just stay away from the caffine.

If you can get to a Pain management group, they can help you with finding the right medication for you to sleep well, and be at least comfortable with your pain in order to function each day. I know i was eatting 10-13 aleve a day for pain that my doctor prescribed and told me to take just so he did not give me narcotics. That is when i got rid of that doctor. Any doctor that tells you to take that amount of them meds for pain, is looking not for the interest in the patient but for the well being of himself not getting in trouble for prescribing narcotics.

RE: no sleep..two days
Robbie,
I take Tramadol(Ultram) 50mgs. 4 times a day. I don't think that it has caused me insomnia. I have had that way before I was put on the Tramadol. I was given Lunesta by my PM Dr. but still wake up every few hours, or on the worst nights, every hour. I have tried to not drink any caffiene within a few hours of bedtime also. I think each person is differant, but I can definitly relate to being unable to sleep. After awhile it wears you down and then you sleep several hours out of pure exhaustion. I hope you find something that helps you. Keep us posted. I know that stress levels from injuries and dealing with the W/C doesn't help matters any. I'm glad that you found our forum, the best place online.
Take care
Vickie

RE: no sleep..two days
Robbie, my family doctor prescribed 'Lexapro' for me. It helps depression AND anxiety. I take it at bedtime as it makes you sleepy. Expensive med though.
OTC melatonin is great too, & cheap...get it at walmart or drugstore in the vitamin section. BUT...if you have asthma, steer clear...it can /does cause breathing problems at night.
Also a simple benyadril will put you to sleep too.
Good luck, LillySmile
