RE: ChrisChris
Hi Sithie,
Just had my cervial surgery last week and not quite back in the swing of things yet. I have this darn hard brace that I was told today I have to wear for another 12 weeks 24/7, except for a quick shower.

Other than that, I'm fine. Everything went well. Thanks for asking.

RE: ChrisChris
ChrisChris - I can't imagine being in a hard neck brace for that long! Is that an unusual length of time to have to wear one?

I haven't been here much lately and had lost track of what everyone was up to. I hope you will heal well and get the relief you need. Please give us updates when you are up to it and don't over do it or I will get you!!!

Hugs,
monster

RE: ChrisChris
Sithie, I will PM you my address for the seeds. My husband got into a garden mode last weekend and tilled a large square in the back yard to plant vegetables. So far tomatoes (several varieties), bell peppers, eggplant, suchini squash, and some herbs. We'll give your seeds a try. No green thrumb here and I can't work a shovel with the brace so it's all up to hubby. Sithie, no signs of RSD spread. Tongue

Red and Monster: It's amazing how used to to the hard brace I've become. I feel very insecure when I take it off to shower. I don't know if this is a long period of time or not. I asked if I could at some time switch to a soft brace but surgeon said "no". He's the boss and has been in the business a long time. Now that I'm starting to feel better, the hardest part is not being able to drive until the brace comes off.

Here's what the brace looks like. It's not that bad. [Image: img_AspenBW_solo.jpg]

RE: ChrisChris
ChrisChris,
That is the same brace that I'm in. I'm hoping that after my six week check up, that I'll be allowed to drive again. That for me is a pain, because I have 1 friend who can take me where I need to go, or pick up my mail or whatever, she works 2nd shift and I hate bothering her.

My surgeon told me at my first post op visit that I could wear the soft brace at home if I wanted to. I tried it and found it to cause me more pain than the hard one, lol go figure. I'm hoping that I don't have to be in it for 3 months like you and Jayne. Good luck on your recovery.
Take care
Vickie

RE: ChrisChris
You girls stay in those hard braces like you're supposed to or we'll all get you both!!!

I can't even imagine having to wear one of those for so long. My good friend had cervical surgery and had to wear one but I didn't think it was for that long. I do know that it drove her nuts though!
