starving
I was injured at work 14yrs. ago a concrete panel was dropped on me from about 12-15ft. above me if I didn`t see the shadow I would be dead. From the time of my injury every 2yrs. I would get a cost of living adjustment(cola adj.)About a year ago I recieved a letter from the insurance company (Liberty mutual) that I would not be getting anymore (cola adj.) they also took every cola adj. from the last 14yrs.away from me bringing my weekly paycheck down to my flat rate from 14yrs ago.I now get less than $300.00 a week for the rest of my life.I`ve been waiting for 8 months to go to court but my lawyer told me the judge can make the court date at his own discretion.Im not sure how long I can last? If u have any insight let me know with the cost off everthing going up I can`t afford to live.I CRUSHED three disc`s had five operations 2 on my back 1 knee 1 face 1 ankle I have a hard time getting around.I can`t even afford to fix my vehical If it brakes, loosing It because Im to poor would be tragic.HELP

RE: starving
glad to see you found the injured worker forum.
if they changed the law in your state then you're out of luck. you can go to your state's work comp website to find the laws controlling workers comp benefits or call a help line and find out if you can appeal. you didn't list your state and it's different for each. |

RE: starving
I live in NH but work in Mass. and born there in Lowell. If you do not mind me asking, what town do you live in? The first thing i thought of was the concrete that was in the tunnel that the panel fell on the woman going through to Boston with the BIG dig tunnel.
Can't you apply for state help? There is so many types of programs here in Mass for the unemployed etc. Food stamps, Wic program and churches that hand out to those in need. That is if they are not dry from so many people needing help this year. Welcome to the forum, and good luck and hope you have a pain free day. carpal tunnel recurrence/ neuropathy / RSD. 1/29/07 injury date. Permanent. PIR settlement 8/4/08 10% |

RE: starving
Are you able to apply for SSDI? I know it can be a long process, but if you have not already tried, it may be worth beginning the process. I also want to encourage you to keep at it, if you apply. It took me 3 times of being turned downd, before I went before a judge and he approved me.
Welcome to the board and please keep us posted. |

Thanks for your reply,I have s.security Dis. but with the offset its not much. They pay me the same thing even after the cost of living adj. were taken away? I make $8 to much to recieve food stamps. At the begining of this year s.s increased my monthly payments $16.00 and they took my food stamps away,ma. is tuff.
