 Surgery
Well, it's finally here....seems like I've been waiting for a very long time to have this done and over with!! LOL
Surgery is tomorrow morning at 9:00 am CDT, and is scheduled to last 6-8 hours. I'm hoping for 6 vs 8!! LOL Anyway.....they are doing both the anterior and posterior approach (belly and back) to complete a bi-level fusion of L4-S1 and possibly, if needed some housework at the L3-4 level. Then I'll be on my way....so they say!! LOL I'm looking forward to this being over with, that's for sure!! This is my last hope at ever returning to my nursing career!!!!!!! Dr. stated that it would be at least October before I could go back to work, but thought that if all goes as anticipated that I shouldn't have any problems and should be able to get at least another 10-15 years out of my back before I would need more work. He's about the same age as I am, so I'm thinking I'm going to be VERY lucky if he's still practicing!! LOL Given the fact that he's a Dr. and I'm not....he should be able to retire sooner than I, if he had some good financial planning....LOL!! I've been busy for the last week trying to get everything taken care of that needed it and to make sure the boys get everything they needed in order to spend a week away from home! This is the first chance in a long time that I've been able to spend any time at all on the computer...as far as taking the time to read any of the forums.  Your doctor sounds confident and that's great to hear. Please do exactly as the doc says as far as your post op instructions...you sure don't want to jeopardize the work he's going to do in there, but you already know that! ;)Workmans comp is not a road you want to travel alone.You need a good lawyer,a great family and good friends to lean on.If you make it thru without losing everything you have worked for all your life,you have come out ahead of the game.....
