Hello all...Ive been put at MMI and am told Im waiting for wc to aprove the Dr visit to get my impairment rating. Is there a certain length of time that they have to do this in. I was told that I should try and find a job that fits into my restrictions, which there are a lot of. It ends with sedematary to light work only. Im an LPN in Ms. Just wondering whats next.Will my wc checks stop at this point or after I get my rating. What kind of job do they expect me to find in my field or what and what about the difference in pay. I do have an atty but he was out of the office Fri and this just all come about Thurs. Im hoping to get to talk to him early this next week...Thanks a lot everyone I dont know that I could have made it this far without all the help Ive recieved from this group. Thanks
A last thought.. could I apply for unemployment if my wc check is stopped and Im at MMI with my restrictions it could take a while to find a job. I was fired from where I was injured after my fmla was up and can only go back without any restructions.

no there is no required time limit.
yes temporary checks will stop
they don't have any expectations about your future employment
yes you can apply for unemployment once restrictions are permanent.

When i was put at MMI i waited about two weeks and got very frustrated as i am a very impatient person. I found a job within my restrictions working 40 hours a week and that is what put me at MMI. You can find employment at a new place within your restrictions while waiting on your PI rating. I took it upon myself to contact the doctor i had for occupational medicine as he was only one of two people in the whole clinic that was approved for PI ratings. When i called for the appt. i was told that they had to fax a form over to my adjuster for him to sign before they could set up my appt. It took a few days back n forth with phone calls etc. and finally had it set up for 2 months after i called.

You do not have to wait 1 yr. to have your rating like some people say you have to do. Mine was actually 11 months after, and only because i called to set it up. My NCM was very upset when she heard i was already setting up my PIR rating, as i am guessing she was waiting to milk it out alittle longer and make me wait for the phone call from her. If i did not have my daughters friend that worked for the workers comp. then i would not have known this. Do you have a doctor picked yet for the PIR? Mine was with the IC's doctor and he gave me a good rating of 19% whole body, and now the ic just set me up for a IME with their lawyers choice of doctor because they felt the rating was way to high.

Good luck, and call to set up a PIR rating as soon as possible, as it could take months sometimes to get in for it.
