Cancellation of Health Insurance
My husband had his injury in July 07. He had injections done in his neck and is due for another series soon. The problem is that he has high blood pressure and a problem with his heart. His employer has cancelled his health insurance since he is out of work and is on workers compensation. We have little money and cannot afford to pay for any health insurance, it's very expensive. Does anyone know if there is help out there so he can continue to see his doctor. We don't know yet what is wrong with his heart. Need help soon.

RE: Cancellation of Health Insurance
Go to the dept of public welfare. You can explain your story to them and either they can help you or they may be able to tell you who can.

GOD BLESS OUR COUNTRY AND OUR PRESIDENT!

RE: Cancellation of Health Insurance
Backache is right to apply for dshs(welfare), but probably his w/c income is over the limit with welfare guidlines. If he was admitted to a public hospital as inpatient, usually dshs allows the so called Spend Down. It means he is responsible for some of the cost and dshs picks up the rest. Usually public hospitals write off the patient's portion and they just bill the welfare department.
Or other choice..he can go to a Community Health Center, they charge according to your income.
Or go to ER and let them run some test and worry about cost later. Most hospitals has the charity fund and just apply for it after getting bills.
Sorry, many of us don't have health insurance and we take risks every day, but if something is really serious, I would just go to ER.
