RE: flu help
Use Triple antibiotic ointment on your nose. It will heal up in a day or so. Believe me if you had a snoz like mine you would use a whole tube.

RE: flu help
Rub vicks on bottom of the feet & wear some socks to bed at night time. Euculyptis oil in hot sudsy tub water and soak....or just rub it on the chest. Lots of chicken soup, dry toast, ginger ale or 7-Up
Alka Selzer Plus works best for us. Hope you feel better soon, Lilly ![]() PS...don't feel lonely...I'm going on week #2 with the crud! Injured worker, & tired of it all! I'm too old for games!! RE: flu help
Euculyptus oil in hot water on the stove. No vicks, as studies have been done and it can add to chance of pneumonia. Chicken soup by the gallon. Thera-flu is what we take here when i is bad, 'cause with it you rest better. Mentholatum on nose and upper lip. You can use a hot mustard plaster, the kids will hate it, but it helps. you might wanna put Shay on pedialite if she starts to look dehyrated, for she is still pretty little.
We will be prayin' and don't forget to put out the quarintine sign on the driveway lol. Hugs to all of ya, Sithie PS, this is why we get flu shots every year. The good news is,"You can get used to anything." The bad news is,"You can get used to anything." :-) Sithie |

RE: flu help
They have a medication now for the flu. Not sure of the name but it has flu in the name. You have to start taking it within 24 of the onset I think. It is supposed to lessen the length of time you are sickby a lot. Maybe your Dr. could call it in if you want to try it. We have not tried it so I can't tell you if it's worth it or not.

RE: flu help
Jayne,
I had gotten a sinus infection with an upper respitory virus, was given antibiotics, as soon as I finished them I ended up sick with the stomacj flu and an intestinal virus. My doctor took me out of work for a week and said that there isn't any meds. that work on the virus, but it has to run it's course. He did give me pills for the nausea and throwing up, since I had to go to a W/C hearing the following day (the pills didn't work well). The Dr. also told me to drink flat soda like ginger ale, coke or sprite, he said to make sure it was flat, because the carbonation can actually upset the stomach more. He told me to eat the B.R.A.T. diet, which is bananas, rice, applesauce and toast. I hope this helps yoo all. I worked this week, but still don't feel totally well. I have slept most of yesterday and today off and on. Keep the little ones drinking plenty of fluids. If you use any kind of Vicks rub, make sure you was it off well before they go outside, this can open the pours and cause pneuamonia or upper respitory infections. I hope you all feel better soon. I can't take the flu shot, and this is the first year in many that I have ever gotten the flu. I hope it is many years before I get it again, lol. Love Vickie |
