RE: Sad News Good News
yeah yeah, I get the same speech got the same speech when I seen my PA this past week. Then she read my file and found out that 2 yrs after starting on Davocet I am still falling asleep after taking 1 pill. so a very low tolerance to pain medications. So what does she give me - couch medicine with codeine in it. Talk about being sleepy all day long from taking it at bedtime. :-( Can't win for losing with medications here.
Really, Limbo and imsickofit it right. If you need the meds to stay ahead of the pain, then you should take it if you can. Some of us just can't handle the meds so we have to do alternative pain relief first before we reach for the meds because we know what the effects of the little pill will have on us. |

RE: Sad News Good News
Glad this came up. Limbo you are right. Sorry for the confusion on words. I know this as I've been around lots of addicts in my life. BUT I also believe that one never knows which moneky will jump on his/her back until it's tried. I guess that has always been my fear. I don't believe all addicts start out to be addicts. A dependence is understandable. Some need to depend on their meds to live just as they do food and water. I hoped this helped at least one person who could be more comfortable taking their meds instead of being afraid. I am. Thanks my friend. CAP God is never late. In the end it doesn't matter how many years were in your life but how much life was in your years. |

RE: Sad News Good News
I myself am dependent on taking my meds every am in order to get dressed and up for work. If it was not for the meds, i would be in bed all day crying in pain. If medication makes me function and live a somewhat kind of life, then i am going to take it. I do not go around announcing to people what i take for meds, and even my best friend/ husband does not know exactly what i take as so many people are against certain narcotics.
I have not abused them in any way, and the doctor said if they help you function then they will still be given. I am so bad with this hand/arm that i have to take my meds every am a hour before i even go to the bathroom/ which to me is very sad to say. I have cried many times just trying to put a belt on my pants each am, as i struggle because i need two hands to do this. Most of my pants i need a belt for, or i would go without. I am given so much pain meds per month, and i always come out with meds left before my next refill, which i think is pretty darn good. I have fear if i run out, i will not be able to move that day, so i make them last, even if i am in alittle pain i will skip a pill till it gets so bad i cannot take it anymore. Never feel bad if you take meds to function and be pain free at least for a bit. It is a tough road we are going down, and every bit is helpful. carpal tunnel recurrence/ neuropathy / RSD. 1/29/07 injury date. Permanent. PIR settlement 8/4/08 10% |
