RSD Ointment
Since I can't remember where i was asked, I will just start new thread. The ointment is made by a pharmacist, and it is Ketamine, Gabapentin, and Clonidine, i do not know the amounts, but i am sure your Dr can find out. I does help some people.

Sithie>>do you know the purpose of the clonidine in that mixture. I understand the other two but since clonidine is my BP med I am curious as to what other uses it has. I have read several but can't put it in this particular mixture.

Just curious,

RE: RSD Ointment
Cap i am not sure, i know also that some people with RSD wear the clonidine patches. I have never been given that option, but Spring swears by them for helping alleviate the pain.

Crabby it is not taken internally here, and will not mess you up.

RE: RSD Ointment

I think that the answer to why clonidine would be used in the ointment for treatment of pain can be found in the following paragraph.

"Clonidine lowers blood pressure by decreasing the levels of certain chemicals in your blood. This allows your blood vessels (veins and arteries) to relax (widen) and your heart to beat more slowly and easily."

With widened arteries and veins, the body is capable of carrying a blood supply that is richer in oxygen to the injured area and assist in the healing process. There is less stress on the body, which in turn, means that the person that is injured is allowed to relax and focus on getting better instead of focusing on the pain and various other aspects of the injury that might be ruling the way that they are living their life with same injury.

I hope that this makes sense.I am a bit drowsy at the moment and not thinking clearly because of the pain that I am in.
