one to add to the idiot pick true story
While we were in report one evening prior to the start of shift. The one RN was quite dismayed that a resident who had just returned from the hospital had a 30 lb. weight loss in one week. As the RN's and the DON were discussing how this could have happened I just sat there with this stupid grin on my face. They went over and over how the scales had to be wrong or someone wrote in the wrong weights. Of course it was a great concern that anyone could have lost this much weight in one week. Finally the DON looked at me and asked why I had the stupid grin on my face. I looked at all of them and asked "Why did we send Jim to the hospital?" There was a moments silence and then everyones face got beet red as they remembered.......................................... We had sent him to the hospital to have his leg amputated below the knee.
GOD BLESS OUR COUNTRY AND OUR PRESIDENT! |

That was good...laughing.... I have to say in their defense, that as a director in long term care, we are so use to researching the ROOT cause that often the obvious is so obvious and not difficult enough, that it could not be that simple... not in long term care..love Red

Tuffy would love to hear that story... I could tell so many stories of the middle of the night stuff etc. I do think that as nurses we have to be careful, we forget that what we do is not something that is done every day by everyone... laughing.. modesty, what is that...love Red
