Ketamine infusion
I went to Dr again on Tuesday, he says there is nothing left for me and he does not want to up my pain meds again. Then he asked how I felt about trying the ketamine infusion as someone in Durango is doing them now. I was totally thrilled. Ever since they waited to long to try the injections, i have been begging to try the ketamine because it has a chance of working no matter how long they screwed around and left me without treatment. He did say though, not to get my hopes up as the IC would probably refuse it. So, here i am, with hope for the first time in a long time trying not to get to hopeful. The RSD has actually gotton worse, I was past the swelling and redness to a large extent, and now they are back, and even with PT my range of motion is lessening. I am now back on crutches alot, due to pain of foot on floor.
Anyway, cross your fingers, and there was an update on me lol, Sithie The good news is,"You can get used to anything." The bad news is,"You can get used to anything." :-) Sithie |

RE: Ketamine infusion
Hello.
The Ketamine infusion has been found to be a reasonable "third line" option to treat pain that has proven resistant to other treatments. I think a good study was recently done at the University of Pennsylvania. The medical community is beginning to accept this therapy slowly. Workers comp is usually the last entity to accept anything new, so I am not optimistic about your being approved, I am quite sorry to say, because it really may help and a trial infusion isn't really that expensive. If you think information might be helpful in your attempt to get approval please let me know because I have collected a bit on the subject. |

I am in Florida and all they have asked and offered is the freaking spinal cord stimulator. NO THANKS..I do not want the constant feel of buzzing. Anyhoo..the sympathetic blocks did not work beause they waited too long. They pissed around and kept trying to find a doctor to say that I didn't have RSD and meanwhile months just flew by for them...PAIN worsened for me. Let me know if your doctor gets their attention and again tell me what state you live in RSD..no CURE....but there is HOPE! Go Georgia Bulldogs..RUFF, RUFF, RUFF |

Bulldawg
I am in Colorado. I understand about the waiting too long, I had been diagnosed and was already on avinza and dalidid before they even offered me blocks, it was by the WAYYYYYYYYYYYYY to late and they did not work. I have RSD in my lower left extermity from a shattered ankle. Try asking for the licoderm patches they help some, you do know not put ice on it, right? There is also a gel, with ketimine, gabapentin and some other stuff that might help you. I am always willing to share notes, lol. Lost, if ya don't mind, you could email me all the links, please. is kaylyn@myway.com BB, Thanks for the link, i am really wondering how this "infusion" is administered. I am trying to post ? there now. Sith The good news is,"You can get used to anything." The bad news is,"You can get used to anything." :-) Sithie |
