Pain Mangement Societies Appose ACOEM Guide #6
Here is the article from ASIPP's website.
Several pain management societies have engaged two congressmen to fight the changes. One comment that caught my eye was that they feel the new guidelines were written for the insurers and the professionals, and NOT for the patient. Why does this not surprise me? You have to click on some of the links to read the whole story. http://www.asipp.org/2008-0130-News.html#article1 Let Go, and Let God...... |

Stuff like this makes Me want to bite nails!
I hate to wish ill will on anyone but I wish the People that wrote the new guidelines could walk in our shoes for just one day to see how we live. |

It reminds me of in the movies. The scene where a guy is clinging to the edge of a cliff with one hand, and someone steps on his fingers.

RE: Pain Mangement Societies Appose ACOEM Guide #6
workers have few organizations speaking and working on their behalf, while many other "players" are doing far more to further their groups interests.
the majority of those employed do not support or belong to a union and have done little to create any alternatives. Most employees are content to deal with issues on their own and independently of one another. With government compliance and regulators continually overruled and down sized they have few willing to battle to keep the rules fair. many states today are offering citizens an opportunity to vote and make a political difference. let's hope workers don't pass this up as well. thankx for the soapbox. |

1171 you can get on a soapbox any time you want to. We are here to listen to everyone.
I think that one of the biggest problems is that workers don't think of being hurt until they are. Once most workers are injured, they don't have any idea of what to do and many of us are just laborers without much of an education. For the most part we don't know how to fight to change things. If we get a lawyer, they just want money, they don't want to change laws. I'm not saying that injured workers are idiots. Please don't anyone think that. I just mean that a lot of us haven't gone to college and we definitely don't know how to become an advocate. If we advocate for ourselves we feel like we have done a lot. How do we find the energy after our long fights to fight again? |

Happy Birthday,
"If we get a lawyer, they just want money, they don't want to change laws." I find this beautiful in it's simplicity. Well said! "How do we find the energy after our long fights to fight again? " We will find it because we have to. |

KS Girl, I understand what you are saying about advocacy, it's not a skill we are born with.
I learned a long time ago.......If we don't advocate for ourselves........Nn one else will. Being the parent of 5 children, 4 with disabilities......I've learned to advocate for their needs and mine. I will pm you with some advocacy information for Kansas. |
