therapy
I was allowed two p/t visits for carpal tunnel. They made mentionthat i had already recieving 16 visit of p/t. Those where not for carpal tunnel, but for my neck.
Even the therapist said."What can you do with two visits"? Can I insist they give me more? |

RE: therapy
you can insist but in many states the employer/carrier controls treatment.
most states have a process to handle disputes over work comp benefits. Each state has different rules so there is no one answer to your question. |

RE: therapy
I have been through the exact same thing. After my fusion surgery, I had trouble lifting my legs. The i/c agreed to a P/T to come to my house and work with me for 12 sessions. Then, 3 months after the surgery, the normal and very important part to recovery, is P/T to strengthen your core muscles. Since you are not allowed to bend, twist or lift for the 1st 3 mo. after a fusion, the 1st P/T couldn't touch any of the core muscle excercises.
Well, the i/c refused to give me the P/T at the 3 mo. mark. They said that they gave me P/T after the surgery so why should I need it again. All of my Drs. were shocked and all sent detailed notes, explaining that I could be left with life long balance problems as well as muscle wasting, with out PT and they still said NO. My lawyer took it to the courts and they said they had to pay for it, but by that time I have permanent SI joint dysfunction as well as muscle wasting in my rt. leg and foot drop, and Bursitis from Gait issues and core muscles that can't be strengthend because my back is to unstable. I am sorry you are dealing with this, but please have a lawyer deal with it asap, so you don't end up like myself. |

RE: therapy
I do not know what the heck they are going to do with only two visits. My first visit was an accessment. The therapist should write to the insurance co. their findings and what they suggest for treatments. They are the ones that tell the ic what you need, and then it is up to the doctor and ic to go ahead with it. I went for my hand/neck for 7 months, 4 x's a week. Good luck.
carpal tunnel recurrence/ neuropathy / RSD. 1/29/07 injury date. Permanent. PIR settlement 8/4/08 10% |
