Kind Of Off Topic: Keeping A Great Site Great!!!
Before I begin, let me say this is My Opinion Only, but something I need to write! ADMIN. has worked very hard to provide us with a great new board to use, and because of such we are getting more and more new people joining our family daily! GREAT JOB ADMIN!!! But with this growth it seems we are experiencing a rash of posts that contain sarcasm, rudeness, and some of the posts have even had wording changed to make it sound like a negative instead of a positive. We all need to set back for a moment, as I said above, My opinion only, and think before we post. This Forum is by far the best forum I've ever been on, it's very diverse, not only is there great information both legally and medically, but there is also a "Family Feel" that I haven't experienced anywhere else! We need to keep that. My suggestion for all of you to ponder. Please think before you post! Take a moment and think if the reply you are about to send is going to help, or hurt the discussion. Is the reply you are about to send one that you would like to receive? Are you correct and do you have knowledge of what you are about to post? Just these small thoughts I believe will stop a lot of the animosity that seems to pop up on this great board, and I personally feel it will go a long way to keeping this board Number 1, and keep the family feel we all enjoy! I hate to see these negative responses, as I'm sure we all do and I just wanted to try and come up with a way that we can all get along and enjoy what I have come to see as MY Second Extended Family!! Thanks for taking the time to read this, and I hope in some small way it helps!!Wink

Limbo,
Very well said! I don't know if anyone could have said it better. You have mounds of thoughtfullness and kindness regarding the feelings of other members of this forum. Of course that is one of your assets you offer to this forum. I agree, I feel this is a very family oriented board and I for one enjoy being a part of this family. Great post, friend! Take care and God Bless you for your acts of kindness and consideration for others.

Thanks for the replies guys!! But you all better be careful, I'm rounding the corner on 250 posts and I have no idea if four stars is going to go to The "Flying Penguin of Justice's" head!! (LOL) I only have so much control over that little fellow, and I can only hope he takes his fourth star humbly and doesn't go out on another one of his benders!! I guess we all will have to just wait and see!!Tongue

RE: Kind Of Odff Topic: Keeping A Great Site Great!!!
Thanks Limbo for saying what you have said. I agree whole heartedly with all you said. Also, I love the comment about thinking before we post. There are ways to word things that you can say the same thing but with a positive note. I would like to add one thing for all of us to consider.

As a back ground, one of the things that is great about this board is our ability to express our selves as a family. We talk about everything from sex to prayer. We as a family have not denied ourselves the privilege of being real vibrant people with real needs from all avenues of our lives. We are also people for the most part who are experiencing a lot of physical mental and social changes very rapidly. In most cases our lives have been through an over haul lets say. For most of us, 10 years ago, we were young vibrant, active, pain free, and we owned our world. Then suddenly due to an accident, most of you have experienced a changed perception of your world. Most of you probably never thought about dying or the fact that you are getting older until this accident occured and limited many of your capabilities. Now, the depression sets in, and for some of you, you have not been able to get the care you need to make you feel better, due to W/C IC denial or refusal to help. Or if you do get the care that you need, you are going bank rupt or using every last dime you were saving for your retirement. The stresses are unlimited in our lives.

Now to the point that I want to express. I want us all to remember that with all this stress that we are experiencing we all have bad days and weeks when we maybe do not say things as positive as we really want too. I know that I have experienced it myself where I would read it a day later and go....why did you say it like that or why didn't you just stay in the bed that day...are you understanding what I am saying? No one can make you feel bad about anything unless you allow it to happen. I say this, and I just sent a private mail to someone about maybe I should leave because I didn't think I was doing a good job on this board or maybe I was not liked by the board for an number of other reasons I had drumed up in my head. The point is, I had it all drummed up in my head...the medications we are on, the depression that we deal with, the fear of the unknown from day to day about finances, medical care etc. is enough for all of us to have a bad day. This bad day usually has nothing to do with the board and yet while the board has become a family who cares and maybe more than a real biological family, it is one where a person feels safe and just says what is in his or her mind without thinking. This is where what Limbo said comes in to play. More than anyone we must think about what we say before we say it. Maybe read it over before posting it. And like he said...is it something you would want to recieve from someone. However.....

I know I am wordy...it comes because I tent to see things from all directions which maybe sometimes can make me look sort of wishy washy...but what I am trying to say is that we as a family if we are hurt may want to say..."if someone hurts us".. is to bring it out in the open...and just let it be known that a statement hurt. Now the person who made the statement would have to be mature enough and strong enough in their own self esteem to say...I am sorry, it was not my intent or if it was their intent and it was malious...then board may want to dig a little further.

What I am trying to say is to understand first and then ask to be understood. But in understanding you may have to ask some questions about a post that was directed to you in a less than politeful way...then give the person an opportunity to explain him or herself before saying they hurt me and having a bad day...I hope this makes sense...?????????

Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.

RE: Kind Of Odff Topic: Keeping A Great Site Great!!!
Red your post made a lot of sense to me and thanks for adding your view! If we all could just understand and work hard to be polite, and to get things out in the open, many of these problems would go away! That's kind of why I started this thread, so we can all come to one place and try to keep this forum the "Family Oriented " forum that it is. Thanks again Red!Wink
