Surgery Update
Hello Everyone,

I just wanted to let everyone know that I went through my back surgery yesterday (microdisectomy L4-L5, L5-S1) and surgery went well. I was released from the hospital approx. 3 hours after I woke up. I can't sit for too long at a time but walking seems to be ok. I noticed this morning when I woke up that I still had the pain in my hip, ankle and foot and the tingling in my toes are all still there. Maybe it isn't an immediate relief. I'll call the doc later on today and find out how long I should have to wait for that relief.

Deb

RE: Surgery Update
Deb...yesterday and you are writing today and out of the hospitals. Wow...you must be feeling terrible. Thanks for thanking about us. It is possible that their is still some swelling from the surgery in the areas of your spine that create the symptoms you are feeling and that with time that swelling will go down and so will the symptoms. I hope so. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Take care of yourself. This is a major surgery.

Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.

RE: Surgery Update
Hi Deb, I hope you are well today! I had a Microdiscectomy/Laminectomy L5/S1, and under normal circumstances you should start feeling better in two to three weeks. It depends on how long your nerves were impinged, as to how long they take to heal. Just take it easy and listen to the Dr., don't push yourself too hard, and I wish you a speedy recovery!!Wink

RE: Surgery Update
Please take it easy Deb and don't do more than you're supposed to do. I'm glad you finally got to have it done, but be careful not to undo everything your doc did by doing to much (I hope that made sense).

RE: Surgery Update
Very good news to hear. Surgery when it goes well, you get home early too. That is good to hear also. Now for your other issues, time is healing. Nerves take a long to to heal when their upset, so now, it's time to relax, heal up, and be pateint. Let it takes it's course.

Big Grin RE: Surgery Update
Deb,
Sometimes you don't always get immediate relief.  This can be due to the nerve that was impinged could have been so inflamed that it will take some time for the nerve to calm down now that it is set free.  I would not be too worried this soon.  You need to not be sitting at the computer very much right now after back surgery.

Although we do appreciate the update.  All of us want you to recover nicely so take things slow and do not push yourself.  You can be in touch with us when you are better able.  We will all be patiently waiting to hear back from you but your wellness comes first.  Wishing you the best of luck and a speedy recovery.  God Bless and take good care!

Deb

My Aunt had the same surgery, she still had the tingling of her foot after surgery. Dr told her it was the swelling and it would get better.
It took a few weeks for her to see an improvement.

Take care of yourself.

RE: Surgery Update
Thanks everyone all the well wishes, kind words and prayers are extremely important to me and I appreciate it more than anyone will ever know. I am not doing anything right now. Kids and hubby are taking care of me. Don't even have to lift my own glass that is my granddaughters job (she's 3). I will keep you updated as I get better and MJC is right I cannot sit for very long at a time so I will be in and out as I can tolerate it.

Deb
