RE: MRI results..scar tissue.. back people help
Thanks everyone for all of the information. I picked up the MRI results and to me it sounds like the L4-L3 and L5-S1 that were bulging before may be a little worse. They now have posterior annular tears and L3-L4 that was just bulging says "there is dessication of the central disk with a mild broad base posterior bulge. Mild hypertrophic change is seen in the posterior facet joint/ligamentum flavum. There is a probable small posterior annular tear. AT L4-L5 where I had the surgery it says, "There is increased signal and enhancement at the disk with evidence of prior left hemilaminectomy. This space is moderatley narrowed. There is an extradural defect along the left subarticular region which shows prominent enhancement on the post gladolinium sequences, likely representing granulation tissue. No definite recurrent disk is evident. The central canal and bilateral foramen are patent".

I understand that the disk has not reherniated and that there is scar tissue. What does "increased signal and enhancement" mean and what does "extradural defect along the left subarticul region which shows prominent enhancement" mean? Can this be causing the new pain in my right butt, leg and foot? I just wish they would put these reports in words that normal people can understand!

I talked to my hr lady at work and she doesn't want me to come back to work until after I see my dr. She also said that she talked to wc and they said that they would approve an MRI. So I am hoping that means they will pay for this one. I go to the dr Tuesday morning, but I would like to have some idea what this all means so I will know what questions to ask and so I'll know if he's blowing smoke you know where!

Limbo, I appreciate all of your help. Thank you for clarifying the scar tissue issue. I don't know who told the lady that called with my results that that is what it was. I am very thankful that it isn't scar tissue.

RE: MRI results..scar tissue?. back people help
Hi Limbo, I would love to know what you have to say about the scar tissue and chronic pain after back surgery. It sounds like you are the one that has 1st hand knowledge. I know I read you have not been feeling well, so please don't rush things. If you want to PM me, that would be fine, as well. I have wondered if it could be the cause of but, leg and foot pain, if the stimulator might help pain from scar tissu and if this is something that would be compensated for, since it is a lifetime of chronic pain, even though I will probably still be able to work P/T?

Thanks.
