Can work go on before settlement?
I was badly injuried at work -brain injury , broken skull , broken arm , broken vertabra , broken pelvis , and the list goes on . Ive been told I may return to work on very light duty for a long period but can I return before settlement ? Basicly no dates are currently being set and Im told every doctor (all 12 of them) have to release me for work first . Some doctors I might be seeing for years before everything ends.

RE: Can work go on before settlement?
I would think that you would have to be released to return to work by all drs before you can go back. Drs can release you to work with restrictions and if all of the drs were to agree on the restrictions and your employer would take you back, you can return before settlement. I'm pretty sure I am right about that, but others will be along to let us know. I wish you the best and I am sorry you have such horrible injuries.

RE: Can work go on before settlement?
you should enter your state in your profile.
most answers are state specific. settlement can mean different things. some states provide permanent impairment benefits. those are independent of whether you are working or not. others factor in the ability to return to work when finalizing a claim. |

RE: Can work go on before settlement?
I have been back to work for 4 months now and just ready to get my settlement now. So i would say " yes" you can return to work before settlement, but the doctor should have restrictions and you should be put at MMI before any settlement agreement is made.
carpal tunnel recurrence/ neuropathy / RSD. 1/29/07 injury date. Permanent. PIR settlement 8/4/08 10% |

RE: Can work go on before settlement?
that'll help for this one but not all future posts.
go to user CP at the top of the page in the welcome box select edit profile from the menu on the left under additional information/location put your state. now you're identified for all future posts. ![]() Maryland uses Whole Person Impairment ratings based on the AMA guides. Permanent Impairment is payable whether you are working or not.
