Latest update
I thought I would let everyone know the latest on me. I haven't been able to get wc to allow me to go back to the dr, even though I have been asking for several weeks. I woke up this morning and couldn't straighten up, so I called in to work, took some meds and slept a couple more hours hoping I would wake up feeling better. It didn't work. I ended up going to a walk in clinic where I was seen by a PA. She was really nice and listened to me and she ordered an MRI. I cried! I have been trying to get an MRI for several months now and the wc dr wouldn't order another one. He just said it can take a year to heal. I told the PA that he had said that and she said that was ridiculous especially with new symptons. I told her that's what I have been saying. It was so nice to finally have someone listen to me! She also gave me restrictions which include no bending, so I am off work til after the MRI. At this point I am paying for everything myself, but my lawyer is working on getting wc to reimburse me and cover the MRI. I said I don't care if I do have to pay for it, as long as it gets done.
One other thing. When I was talking to the hr lady at work she said the wc lawyer was trying to get ahold of her to see what she thinks about everything. Do you all think I am right in thinking that if she tells him how bad I am hurting and that I am not faking, that maybe they won't fight paying for the MRI? I know she believes me, she was telling me to go to my dr and get him to order an MRI before wc dr put me at MMI. I think she also believes me in that something is still not right. Sorry if this is long or disjointed. I am kinda high from the meds. Since I got prescriptions today I took my full dose and I haven't done that for a while because I only had a few pills left and was afraid I would be completely without and without a dr to prescribe more. Thanks for listening everyone and WOO-HOO1 I finally get to find out what's wrong with me!!!! |

Ksgirl!
I'm so glad you finally got the test you feel will help you "find out what's wrong"! Even though there may be an argument over the MRI costs......I bet in the end WC will have to pay. Don't worry yourself over this...concentrate on YOU! Prayers going up for you NOW, Lilly

RE: Latest update
Sorry to hear you are hurting, Ksgirl. It's nice to hear that you found someone to step up to the plate and request the MRI you need in spite of W/C. OK , maybe it does take up to a year for your injuries to heal like the W/C DR. says but shouldn't it be monitored to insure you are healing properly and especially if you are experiencing new problems. I think it is irresponsible on the I/C's ,W/C's and HR's part by hiding behind this legal B.S. If someone is hurt get them madical help and hammer out the legal crap later. Something is VERY WRONG when I/C's, lawyers, and judges practice medicine (none of which went to medical school)instead of letting Doctors (these are the ones with M.D. behind their names) address medical issues like they are supposed to do. Another thing unique about doctors is in their oath "first do no harm". I do not think any of the above mentioned have an oath like that.

RE: Latest update
Thank you for the well wishes. I am just so thankful I will be able to find out what's wrong or if I am crazy. I called the hospital that will be doing the MRI and the lady in billing told me to bring the wc info and she'll bill them first. If they deny it she will bill my insurance. I haven't told my lawyer about this yet. He doesn't want to get my insurance involved, which I kind of understand, but why not let two insurance companies fight it out instead of me trying to figure it out? Oh well, I am still just thankful. I'll worry about the bill later.
CD, I agree about all of thee people who have no medical expertise deciding what we can have or not. It's just crazy! What also bothers me are the wc drs who are for the insurance company and not the patient. How can they live with themselves and how can they feel they are keeping their oath? I was trustiing that my dr was a dr first. Instead it seems that he works for the ins. co. not his patients. I just know that if they do find something else that needs fixed, I will not be going back to that dr! |

RE: Latest update
I wonder if those W/C doctors are exempt from medical malpractice lawsuits?? Does anyone know? I'm curious. And the rest of them should be imprisoned for practicing medice without a liscence.

RE: Latest update
CD: Most Occupational Medicine Doctors work for a large group, or as part of a Medical Group or Clinic.
Generally, the Employer of the doctor will pay the Malpractice Insurance for WC doctors, but put the policy in the doctor's name. WC doctors are pretty low risk for malpractice suits, but now and then it does happen that a wc doctor is sued. By putting the malpractice insurance in the doctors name, it protects the "Corporation" from being sued. Now think about it, just how much does a WC doctor really do? Listen, Advise, Refer, Determine Work Status, Write Prescriptions, Write Reports to I/C, Speak at Employers WC Meetings, and keep Employer informed. Let Go, and Let God...... |
