(off topic)  Should the USA bring...
all our armies home, park our aircraft carriers and bombers in our country to protect our land and let the rest of the world do what ever they want?  This way we can use our resources for our citizens, protect our borders etc....
Or, do we need to be the world's policemen?
Not intended to be anti war or anything as I fully support our troops but a prior post about how the gov't doesn't have the resources got me to think that its time we take care of ourselves (ask the poor people in Kansas, New Orleans, the mid west which will be flooding soon etc....  Please no Bush bashing or praising, just want to know if we'd be better of as a country with our armed forces here at home protecting us.
*Note-if this isn't appropriate for this forum then please delete.
Thanks.

RE: (off topic)  Should the USA bring...
Squigs, I think it's time we start taking care of number 1 first. It's nice to be able to help other countries but to me it seems as if we worry about them more than our own country these days. I think the only countries we need to police are those that are a direct threat to us. Kind of like all the illegal aliens, I'm tired of paying for them to have 6, 7, 8+ kids and getting a free ride because they can't afford to have that many kids while we are just trying to survive. If we want to help them help themselves then I think dropping condoms all over their country might benefit them greatly.

Sorry folks, touchy subject with me...hope I didn't offend anyone to much and if so I hope you will forgive me quickly...

Hey girl, you have no reason what so ever to feel like a failure if you need assistance. We have worked our entire adult lives and paid into the system only to be told we can't get it when we need it. But you can come here from another country, pop a baby out and get damned near anything you need...it pi$$** me off to no end!!!

I think I better stay away from this thread...we just discussed this in one of my classes today as well and I was very heated there as well...

RE: (off topic)  Should the USA bring...
I believe that we have to police the world to prevent another world war. The hard part is why does it have to be us all the time. There are a lot of other countries out there that are in better shape financially than the USA. Especially they are more in control of some of our hot issues such as healthcare, or middle class economics, care of the elderly and homeless, boarder control and so forth.

I don't believe in the war that we are a part of now. My son has been there 3 times now, and I would always support him and the armed forces. They are not the ones making the decisions, they are the ones giving their life for our country. I believe that some had their own agenda when this war started.

When I was in the Navy, I loved being able to live overseas. It was a great opportunity and I found out so much about America and I have to say that most of it I didn't like. The other country's to not want us policing the world. They do not like the fact that we want to push our way of doing things on them. Most like what they have unless we are talking about the 3rd world countries. I don't know anything about what they want or do not want. I did have a lot of immigrants from Nigeria and Libia working in my nursing home as nursing assistants and sometimes the things they would say about what happened in their country I was grateful that they were able to come to America and live because no one should have to be exposed to that kind of poverty and malice. I do believe that we should protect our boarder more and I believe that what Monster said is true. I believe that healthcare is major issue in this country and our own citizens are having trouble affording it. If you live in southern Calif. or Arizona etc. you know that they are given healthcare and will never pay it back. We pay for it. The prices continue to rise to offset their inability to pay. And this problem continues to multiply in other issues as well. I have a lot more thoughts but I am too wordy...already...

Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.

Red I understand what you mean. I have a nephew who is now stationed in Georgia agfter being in Iraq...he said that alot of the soliders just want to come home and protect OUR country not someone elses. I totally agee, bring them home.

One thing Monster, I know I mentioned this in the old board, about 3 years ago while waiting for my name to be called at the Soc Sec office. Several people were talking about how hard it is to get your Soc Sec monies when you retire or if you are ill. All of a sudden this couple (not americans) walk up to the window and we can hear everything being said...the receptionist said, "Fill out this paperwork and we will give you some monies to start your life here in America." I almost fell out of my seat, The man next to me had just turned 65 and wanted to get his SS started, he about lost it..."What the hell do you mean, this guy from another country can come in here fill out a form and you hand him a check and I worked 35 years and I have to fight for my hard earned money?" Are you kidding me? At that point the Security guard stepped in BUT a bunch of us rallied around the man and let it me known that that couple should not be able to get FREE MONEY from Soc Sec without jumping through hoops like all of us. When I finally met with my administrator, she said, "Yup, anyone from another country can apply for start up monies." I told that was unfair as I was fighting for my hard earned monies that I worked for....sorry for rambling!

i'm with the rest. protect ours first even though i do understand the need to police other countries to help in protecting ourselves. ther has to be another way. too many of ours have died over the years to rebuild another country.

monster.........i'm with you. immigration laws MUST be changed. close the @!$%# doors for awhile. when my parents and grandparents came to America they helped to build the country, worked their butts off, had respect for their new country, learned the language to the best of their ability, taught their childrem the same, stood on bread lines, never lived tax free or rec'd public assistance or housing so they could make $$$$$$$$$$$ . all of the men in my family have fought in WWI, WWII, Korea, and Viet Nam. OK enough of CAP's opinion today.

RE: (off topic)  Should the USA bring...
Squigs037, If I did say something, it would draw months worth of questions and replies. You say why? It's because, many people didn't go back in time, and history, to see what took place in those countries when, where, why, and by what Countries. Iraq, was armed and trained by the USA and turned on us. Afganastain when the Russians tried to take it over, and the USA armed and them to help fight that off. Iran, neighbors, that will go either way, but never really stay with us. Even the Saudi's had stated, if we pull out, their going in. In history, the countries were most under Britsh control, till they were over ran. Go back to Lawerence of Arabia, read that. Go way back to Hilter, when the arabs were in part of the killing of the jews. Hitler had arabs on a board with the Nazi's. The orig Nazi symbol, was wrote in acinet times in tombs. These are things we don't see or ever know or look at. Oil, then discovered, USA showed and helped him. Only to create OPAC, and then gave the Arabs control of OPAC. Now, 2 of the other largest countries are not backing us in these lands, China, and Russia. We are the thrid largest.

RE: (off topic)  Should the USA bring...
it depends do you want to fight these wars on their soil or ours? please do not be decieved 9-11 is what we will have to live with all the time if we dont stop them on their own soil......the school shootings will be tame to what a car bomb could do say at the mall of america or any tourist spot....we lived in germany when everytime before we started our car we had to check for bombs underneath....where our children went to school on busses with armed guards...where we didnt dare send our children to the playground unless there was an armed guard there to protect them and us while sitting on the park benches.
Wanna call the bomb squad everytime someone leaves a backpack behind?
I to this day 20 years later cannot stand a crowded tourist area for fear of some idiot blowing us all up......cannot make myself speak up in a crowd and the need to keep my babies within eyesight all the time......if you think these people hold life sacred like we do you are wrong THEY WANT TO DIE AND TO TAKE AS MANY AMERICANS WITH THEM THEY CAN .This is their way to heaven just as living a christian way is ours.....make no mistake we must fight terrerism the only question is where....there.... or here.....
The azzes that took the world trade centers thought heaven and a great reward was waiting on them for doing this deed where we as humans believe hell is waiting for them...they call themselves muslims but muslims believe in peace...they are radicals and as such cannot be trusted to wipe their own fannys.....my husband,my husbands family 3 of my daughters 1 son and the husbands of my daughters are all military all want to take these people out on their soil.Yes they want to come home who doesnt but ask em you want to fight these monsters in america or in Iraq they will tell you Iraq to the person......They do it to keep us free....free from fear to even do something as simple as do the marketing......I have lived the fear of terriosts bombing the market I use or the place I worked...I dont want that for you or america...you were all in fear after 9-11 you wanna live that every day?We have to at least slow em down in their own dens of hell before they bring it here.

;)Workmans comp is not a road you want to travel alone. You need a good lawyer,a great family and good friends to lean on.If you make it thru without losing everything you have worked for all your life, you have come out ahead of the game.....Smile

RE: (off topic)  Should the USA bring...
Better in Baghdad than Boston or Baltimore. Better in Tehran than Tampa or Terre Haute. Neville Chamberlain naively thought he could contain Hitler through diplomacy, and millions died for his ignorance. To retreat to our shores would be a naive recreation of that eggregious error.

What is not lost on me is that our men and women fighting overseas ARE "taking care of their own". There is an entire culture bent on the destruction of not just our way of life, but of us completely. Let there be no mistake. This is a world war; a world war unlike any we have ever fought. Do you notice how much AlQuaeda (sp?) is in the news in Iraq? How can that be if this is not part of the war on terror? We can turn tail and run, but they will follow us. Just ask the people in the WTC twin towers... oops - can't do that, can we?

I do not believe for a moment that we are "fighting a war for oil", but mind you, a destabilized middle east WILL disrupt our oil supply. There is no avoiding the fact that our economy is completely dependent on this. If we withdraw to our sandbagged compound, we'll have plenty of equipment. It just won't be of any use to us.
