wondering??????
i received a letter in the mail yesterday from worker comp board. its a notice of conciliation meeting/ pre-hearing conference. i go on the 23rd of this month. it says the purpose of the meeting is to "question of period and extent of disability. c-8.1 part b(issue of disputed medical bills)". it says i have to have my latest medical report from my doctor including work restrictions and my employer and carrier have to have a c-11. it says at the meeting if the parties agree a proposed decision will be prepared. if someone knows what all this means and don't mind breaking it down into simplest form with me could you please do that. i went to the mail box today and i have to go take a independent medical exam on the 8th which is next tuesday. is there a reason the ic is doing this all at one time. i only been hurt 7 months and i've had restrictions since sept. if someone could shed some light on this for me it would be gladly appreciated. i'm in new york if that makes a difference.

RE: wondering??????
palm,

Most times the i/c will send you to an ime if their is a dispute on your injury. What happens is you first get injuried you go to the company doctor he says you have a sprain, and can still do your regular job, then you go to your doctor and he says you have bulging disks in your back and need time off. The i/c will bring in a 3rd(most times he is on their side) and he will "give and unbiased opinon". All i can say is if you don't have an attorney GET ONE NOW. It looks like they are preparing to dump you then again they may be preparing to make you a settlement offer, you just never really know with them. You really should call them and ask what all this mean. because i could surly be wrong. But this has been my experince with them.

RE: wondering??????
that's funny you said that about the ic doctor. i got hurt on the 13th of june. i went to the ic doctor on the 14th he told me if i wasn't feeling better by monday he was sending me out for a mri. i wasn't and that monday the 18th he sent me to get one. it came back i have herniations, bulging disks, protusions, and annular tears. he basically goes by what ever my doctors say. when they had me out ttd he didn't detest it. when they told me i could work with restrictions he didn't detest that either. i see him once every two months and what ever my last report says thats what he goes by. not once has he tried to send me back to work or said he doesn't agree with my doctors.

RE: wondering??????
My company had a doctor like that also, because he knew that 99% of us had the same exact injuries and he agreed with them. They soon got rid of him and hired a medical center that will always tell you that you can do light duty.

good luck
