Sithie, Colorado question
Hi Sithie,
First, I'm wondering if you're ok? Is your RSD flaring during the cold weather? Hope you are having a good New Year. I have a question for you as I don't know anyone from Colorado. My kids are planning to take a trip to Louisville, Colorado soon, to check out the housing and the area. Do you know anything about Louisville that you can share? They want to get out of California before their kids start school. They are also considering Boise Idaho area. If they go, we are sure to follow. I can't imagine being separated from them, or the grand kids. All we have that is important to us is family. Thanks Sithie, or others who know of this area. Let Go, and Let God...... |

RE: Sithie, Colorado question
Louisville is up in the Denver area, I believe. It is a bit different than Sithie's area (I grew up in Durango, about 50 miles from where Sithie lives). Colorado is a beautiful state, but you'd better enjoy shoveling snow in the winter! Do they have a job opportunity in Louisville? It would be easier to set up and earn a living there than in the southwest corner of the state. Jayne is right. It is very expensive there. We used to joke that the way to leave Durango with a small fortune was to go in with a large one.

RE: Sithie, Colorado question
Hey CC thank you soo much for asking after me, truth be told, i am pretty damn miserable right now. I have been in horrible pain, and the depression has like, tripled. But as i have no other choice, i will be okay.
As for moving here, hmmm. Littleton is not close to me, as admin said it is closer to Denver. I will give you my personal opinion here.....i would look hard at Boise first. It is cheapers, and the Colorado school systems don't impress me much. My son went to school in TX, and they teach to seniors here what he was learning in the 8th grade. Colorado becomes more and more liberal, and more like California every day. I am pretty much anti government, and one thing i am seeing as a trend here is that slowly but surely, the state will control alot more then they need to. I do not intend to stay here when these cases are over for the reasons i just stated. Also, the water right laws are very very convoluted, please reseach them before buying house here. Just my opinions, Thanks again for asking of me, Sithie The good news is,"You can get used to anything." The bad news is,"You can get used to anything." :-) Sithie |

RE: Sithie, Colorado question
Thanks for the replies.
Admin: What is attracting my kids right now is that Lousiville was named the #1 place to raise a family, and the #5 place to live. My son's current career is in Real Estate and he is looking to live in a growing community. For my husband to move he would have to sell his automotive repair business first and we would have to check out the area for the need for that type of new business. It is doable I think. However, when checking out the housing prices, the area's median home is well over $100,000.00 more than the median home price in my area of California. And snow????? Hummmmmmm? Many things to be considered. Sithie, I'm sorry your pain has increased, and the depression is the pits. I too find that with the colder weather the pain increases. Yesterday at my hand therapy session, I cried the entire time. No noise, just tears flowing. I just hate to go anywhere because of that. Sithie, the idea of my hand therapy is to get it working enough so I can return to work. I would like nothing better, but my therapist doesn't understand RSD. She's a sweet girl, and when I try to explain to her that my hand hurts from the inside out and feels like I'm being electrified when anything touches it, she just says I have to learn not to painc with the pain the work with it. Ha! I don't panic, the tears just flow automatically now. I just cant explain it to her or anyone else around here. I hope you are feeling better. Stay inside under a heating pad as much as you can. Take care. I think of you daily! Let Go, and Let God...... |

RE: Sithie, Colorado question
My husband was in Meeker Colorado a couple of months ago. Said the elevation was too high and the terrain too rough to live there, but he did fall in love with some other areas and wants to take me back there so I can see for myself.
I'm just learning how to use Photobucket and don't yet know how to make the pics larger. My husband is the one of the left, the horse is Becky. Paul fell in love with her and talked about Becky for days after he came home. It was his first "horsee" experience. ![]() ![]()

RE: Sithie, Colorado question
CC,
Louisville is a booming area in CO. And it is also in a very great location. It's central to Boulder, Broomfield and Denver (mostly the outlying area of Westminster, Thornton and Arvada. If you google "Louisville" it will bring up a map that shows all the surrounding cities. If you expand the map to where it shows the Boulder Turnpike intersecting with I-25, you will be near the area that I grew up in until we moved to the mountains on my 14th B-day. My grandparents lived in Boulder while I was growing up, and it used to be that the area between I-25 / turnpike into Boulder was mainly open farm land. Now there isn't any open land. Broomfield has grown enough that it now intersects with the Turnpike. Although it has been many years since I went to school in CO .. many of my nieces and nephews, and now greats are in the CO school system. I have to say that compared to what my children got / are getting in MI.. CO schools are superior. And in that area where your kids are looking at, the schools are newer and classroom sizes are minimal and kids get the help they need if they don't understand. There are always needs in CO for good mechanics. My brother moved his shop from NE when his MIL passed away several years ago. However, he now works for the County Highway dept. When he isn't out on the snow plow at this time of year, he is one of their main mechs. And with growth booming, there is always room for good realtors as well. Especially if he can learn the area quickly and wouldn't be afraid to drive distances at times. He could show homes in the outlying areas as well. It is well worth looking at .. and yes, the winters can get bad. But if one is prepared and drives sensibly, one can get anywhere they need to without much trouble. Angel ^j^ I've always been crazy, but it keeps me from going insane. ************ Happiness comes through doors you didn't even know you left open |

RE: Sithie, Colorado question
Hi Angel. Thanks for all the good info. It is only me who has a concern about moving to the snow. I would probably be housebound pretty much all winter.
![]() I am not a prejudice person. Not at all! I live in an area that is predominately Hispanic. A GOOD majority are migrant worker families who travel where the agricultural work is. That means that they come and go during the school year, and most of them don't speak English. California schools are so far behind in the National rankings for test scores, and IMHO, it's because the English speakers are left behind in order to teach the non-english speakers. The pace is slower than it should be on the learning scale. Not only this, but because of NCLB (no child left behind) implementation, the Special Ed kids are integrated into the regular ed classrooms. That can be good and bad. There are many parents in my area protesting this to the school board because of the disruptiive behaviors so many of the Sp. Ed kids have. This is another slow down in the classroom. So many people are homeschooling and/or have their children on independent study now. That's not always a good solution either, depending on the dedication of the parents. Let Go, and Let God...... |
