Morning all....Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. this is the first I have been able to read but not really have the strenght to type in a few days. Not my WC injuries this time. Stomach problems. I am scheduled for an endoscopy and colonoscopy on March 4th. Am on the cancellation list. will have to call the DR. this morning and let him know th pain is horrible and I can't wait that long. I have an umbilical hernia, collapsed upper bowel and pain in my uper stomach that I believe I might have an ulcer at this point. Started with the Toradol after my shoulder surgery. Has come and gone since April but with the Mobic and steroids thrown on top not to mention the stress I am in constant pain now. I ate a handful of dried cranberries and that put so much acid in my throat that I lost my voice for a few days until it died down. That was around Thanksgiving. Had 2 glasses of wine on Christmas Eve and they set it off again. Have had no relief since it started Monday night. Acid so bad my throat is on fire. Pain in the pit of my stomach like it's a hollow space with a fire lit. I've now read the cranberries and wine have lots of acid. Lucky me. I can't seem to get it under control. Please, please know that I am thinking of everyone. I do come and read but don't feel well enough to answer at times. Hopefully I can get in to see the Gastro Dr. again this week or early next. Need help here. It's horrible. CAP

Cap
A friend I meet at PT shared the story with me of her stomach troubles, she said mobic caused major problems with her stomach. I also had to go off mobic due to stomach problems. Just thought I would share. |

RE: Been in lots of pain
Cap, Grandma says try over the counter Gaviscon ( extra strength) chewable tablets, followed with a glass of water. If you are on B/P meds check with your pharmacy before taking any antacids. as they contain sodium. Hope you feel better soon...

Oh, my dear friend....I'm so sorry that you're not feeling well and all of this is rearing it's ugly head again!! Please know my prayers are with you and that you're feeling more up to snuff quickly!! I'm afraid I don't have any real suggestions to give you...other than the standard ones which I'm sure you've already tried again and again. I would definitely try to stick to the blander items on the 'menu' if at all possible! I realize that at this time of year nobody wants to miss out...but if you're more comfortable and not in so much pain then maybe it's worth it. I'd start with bread/toast...no jelly and only very minimal butter/margarine, rice...plain I'm afraid, mashed potatos. I know some of you are thinking that it sounds alot like the "BRAT" (Bananas,Rice,Applesauce,Toast) diet, it is...somewhat. Just because it's the easiest on the tummy!!! I would tend to stay away from most fruits, simply because they tend to be more acidic, even if they taste like it!!
I hope you're feeling better soon...hopefully the Dr. will shed some light on this and get you fixed up. I would also tend to believe that it's some of your meds flaring this up as well. Check with Dr. and/or pharmacist to see if that could be the culprit in conjunction with or alone!!!! Take care! Punk  :0) "If I were any better....I'd only be half as good as you!!" |

RE: Been in lots of pain
I have heard of the vinegar tx.The vinegar has to be raw apple cider vinegar. 2-4 tbls. I have a book on natural cures and according to the author we get acid reflux from not having enough acid in our stomach. Everytime I ever drank red wine I would get acid reflux unless my tummy is full. You could be developing an ulcer from the meds. I feel for you, what do you have to do suffer until they have an opening, that is rediculous. When I get acid reflux the only thing that gets rid of it is a cola.
GOD BLESS OUR COUNTRY AND OUR PRESIDENT! |

Cap, I am so sorry to hear of your pain and illness. I have the same issues from time to time and it is not fun at all. I believe you have received some excellent advice from your forum family. I hope it did not destroy your Christmas day too much. Love Red

RE: Been in lots of pain
Cap, I am so sorry to hear you are having this problem. By the sound of it, you have more than one thing going on and they are all ganging up on you at the same time.
As far as the vinegar, I was told the same thing but I couldn't tolerate it. The vinegar gave me awful reflux that lasted for days. It works well for most people though. I'm taking prescription Omeprazole now and it's the first thing I take when I get out of bed. It controls the reflux very well, and I am able to tolerate all my meds by using this. I hope you will get to see the doctor soon, and they can come up with a solution for you. We need to get you back on your feet to ring in the New Year. You may have to cheer your Happy New Year in with a glass of sparking cider though.
Let Go, and Let God...... |

I would keep trying to get in sooner with you Dr. Even if you have to see your family doctor for something to help you till you can see your Gastro doc. I hope you feel better quickly and that it is not too serious. Take care Vickie |
