Actually Bad Boy, having MS makes it very difficult to obtain SSDI. I went through 3 steps to get there. The reason it is difficult is because today I sit in a wheelchair and can't move my arms, and tommorrow I am walking usually sloppily but can type about 50 words a minute. It is hard to prove that you can't work at something. How to apply for society security would be a good topic to start for people who are going thought the process now.

I can't believe that a person with MS has a difficult time getting SSDI! That is outrageous! Maybe the persons/people should just get a SSDI Attorney to fight for them. Unbelieveable!

Actually a lot of people who have MS work in our society. I had MS for 10 years before it took me out of work. Then it was because I have a lot of fatigue and memory loss. It was not because of mobility and function. Somedays are good, somedays are not. I can tell from my posting on here, however, most of you probably do not neccessarily tell that today she is sharp and tommorrow she is emotional. I read back and go...oh no..go back to bed, this is not your day....lol.

I applied over two years ago and it was approved after a court hearing about 4 months ago. They sent a nurse out to see me and our home. We had built a bedroom down stairs because I can't climb the stairs and the VA put a ramp on my front door so I could go out if I wanted. They also sent a voc. rehab out to see what kind of work I could do and he decided that the fatigue would not allow me to have any kind of permanent employment. So here I am on Social Security. I have the VA and another disability program...so I am doing ok...but could do better if I were still working.

bad boy - there are many that take years to get dx'd with MS because MS like many other auto-immune disorders are an exclusion of other auto-immune disorders until that is the last likely one left. And with MS - there are also other diseases that also mimic it - such as Lupus ( which you can also have white matter on the brain scan as well)
